1st post and need some newbie help on my setup....

Hello all my name is Kevin Williams and i am new to this forum i trolled it yesterday and just had to join. I saw many informative post and i thought i get some help here...


Here is my current problem....

I have the following Speakers
  • Paradigm Front Montior 7 v.3
  • Paradigm Center Channel CC-370 v.3
  • Paradigm Titan Rear
  • Paradigm PS1000 v.3

With the above speakers i have been using a Kenwood VR-7060 and it just seems like they are underpowered? Also with the new Blu-Ray and High Def craze coming i will be getting rid of my rear projector and getting a Samsung LCD and Blu-Ray Player. Can you guys direct me in the direction of a good reciever and Blu Ray player?

Hi Kevin, glad you stopped by. Lots of friendly folks here and tons of good information.

Before we can help, we need to know how much you want to spend. Receivers run from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars.

Is there any major drawback to the current kenwood i have or do i just not know how to use it to it's fullest extent!

I am willing to as high as about 500-600 on the reciever i just got a killer deal on LG plasma and stand tonight off craigslist so now all i have to get is a blu ray and a reciever so i guess my budget is about 800 for the both now?

LG Plasma 50" 50PG20
Harmony 550 Remote
[color="black"]Sony SDRTG 520 Reciever
Samsung Blu Ray DVD player [/COLOR
Paradigm Front Montior 7 v.3
Paradigm Center Channel CC-370 v.3
Paradigm Titan Rear
Paradigm PS1000 v.3

I would like to swap out my rear channel speakers something smaller but what?

Check out the Onkyo receivers. Much higher value than Sony. I also like Panasonic Blu-Rays. Not sure about the current Samsungs, but the older ones had lots of issues....

Went out and shopped around and ended up with a Pioneer VSX-918 Reciever and Insignia Blu Ray Player and some optical and HDMI cables!
