Scrubs - Season 8

Season 8 of Scrubs is coming soon to ABC - January 6. There was a recent article about it in the New York Times - http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/30/ar...on/30scru.html

The article ends with an amusing bit about changes now that it will be on ABC that I had to quote here:
Quote:
Attentive viewers may notice some other changes. Mr. Lawrence said a popular character nicknamed the Todd is no longer allowed to wear the thong-style swimsuit he occasionally wore on NBC.

“That was an actual edict from the head of standards at Disney,” he said.

Re: Scrubs - Season 8

What??? The Todd's Banana Hammock is gone??? Sacrilege!!

No high five for Disney/ABC.

I wonder if they'll be allowed to talk about Turk's ball?

Re: Scrubs - Season 8

I've seen more promos for "Scrubs" on ABC this month than I saw on NBC in the entirety of the show's run there. Banana hammock or no banana hammock, ABC gets a "Actually Gives a Damn" five from me.

Re: Scrubs - Season 8

I wonder if they'll shoot in widescreen for season 8. I was kind of shocked to see the dvds of season 7 were in old 4:3 (and I assume it was broadcast like that too). Anyone heard?

Re: Scrubs - Season 8

It was either the season 5 or season 6 finale that they shot in HD. Afterwards they decided to go back to 16mm in 4:3 because they liked the look.

Re: Scrubs - Season 8

Interesting info, Roger, thanks for sharing. "Scrubs" definitely feels like a 4x3 show to me, so I don't mind it.

If the show continues next season with different characters, though, it might be the right time to switch to 16x9 High-Def.

Re: Scrubs - Season 8

Scrubs has always been a 4x3 show. I'm just waiting on the funny.

Re: Scrubs - Season 8

Tonight is the night! The 1st 2 episodes of Scrubs at 9:00 and 9:30.

If you have a Season Pass from when Scrubs was on NBC, you're better off deleting that and creating a new one since it might not catch the new episodes on ABC.

Though it seems that both episodes will be repeated Wednesday evening at 8 PM.

Re: Scrubs - Season 8

both are repeated wed night and this show is now in widescreen HD.

the first ep was funny enough but sheesh what a tough second one and
even though it was a downer it was one of the best of the series.

I doubt it will happen but i hope we get at ;least 2 ABC seasons.

Still a great show.

Re: Scrubs - Season 8

Solid second episode, but weak season premiere. I feel like the regulars are already being shifted aside to make room for the stars of ABC's spin-off for next season. I also hope that the Janitor is not really gone.

No info available on the Janitor from IMDB as they only have the two episodes we saw listed. I doubt he is really gone. I didn't feel that the regulars were really shifted aside in the two episodes. It didn't seem any more so than with any other intern class coming in.

Re: Scrubs - Season 8

Thought it was a strong start to the season and much more in the tone of it's hey day where the dramatic elements were tastefully done and the comedy wasn't as slapstick as it had become in seasons 5 through 7.

No way he's gone. Since Courtney Cox is only around for the first few episodes of the season, I'm guessing once she leaves they will find a way for Dr. Kelso to replace her (maybe some sort of loophole?) and of course bring back Janitor.

Re: Scrubs - Season 8

There's no way the janitor can be gone....I'm sure we'll see him finding ways back into Sacred Heart! So glad the show is back.

Zachary - thanks for posting that video. One of my fave eps!

Re: Scrubs - Season 8

I loved JD & Turk's "Steak Night" song and dance.

Jo & Blair. Ha!

I thought Courtney Cox slid in really well with a long established cast. One thing Scrubs has always done really well is to utilize their guest stars to good effect.

My favorite part of last night's episode:

Re: Scrubs - Season 8

The Janitor's return was very Dilbert-esque. Both episodes felt like we jumped back three or four seasons in terms of quality.

I knew someone was going to put that up.

Re: Scrubs - Season 8

As opposed to last week which was preempted by inauguration activities there are really supposed to be new episodes tonight.

ABC just announced that starting March 18 that Scrubs will be moving to Wednesday night at 8 PM where it will be paired with "Better Off Ted" at 8:30 PM. (On Tuesdays, ABC will having its Dancing results show.)

First episode last night wasn't bad,but I really enjoyed the second one alot. This show still kicks ass on most shows out there now.

I liked the Muppets episode. Especially Elmo part.

Re: Scrubs - Season 8

After catching up with last week's episodes at www.abc.go.com and then rolling right into this week's episodes on TV, I have to say that this is the best season in years. I loved watching Dr. Cox struggle with being Chief of Medicine, and I loved that he's not being morphed into a Kelso clone.

Re: Scrubs - Season 8

I literally fell out of my seat when Ted and Gooch were singing together and she said "screw you" when Ted sang "kiss you". Their acting during that part was absolutely perfect. I haven't laughed that hard in years. I don't want this show to end.

Just a theory of mine:

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Dr. Kelso is actually dead and they are doing a Sixth Sense thing that will be revealed at the end of the season
post #26 of 68

Re: Scrubs - Season 8

nope why would they do that?
everyone see's him, not just Cox.
he gives people muffins that the guy throws to him.

Re: Scrubs - Season 8

Because everyone will want to remember him the way they want to? Who knows - it's a sitcom where they can do whatever they want - especially this show...lol...

I just think it's a twist that will be revealed at the end of the season...that's all.

Re: Scrubs - Season 8

Not much of a twist really, they already did it in the second Brendan Fraser episode when he died at the beginning.

"That's one long-ass boobie hair."

I LOL'd through most of the second episode.
