Power center or Power distributor?

I am looking for a central power center type of unit that i can plug all my a/v components into so that i can switch one button and everything will be accessible. Is there such thing out there and what is it called?

I am familiar with surge protectors and power conditioners.

Is there something out there that look decent that will control my plugs?

thank you

Re: Power center or Power distributor?

Are all of your components remote controlled? If so, then use a standard surge protector (they are cheaper and work) and use a Harmony remote to control your equipment. No need to press a power button. When you change activities, the remote remembers to power equipment up and down as needed.

The few pieces of equipment that I have that don't have a remote are plugged into the switched power of my receiver or stay powered up 24x7.
