Reciever

Thread Starter
I was looking for some input and any and all will be greatly appreciated. My loving wife researched and bought me a Sony STR-DG820 reciever for XMAS. I currently have a Sony which started failing (loosing channels) on me. Question is I'm not sure if I would be happy with the 820 or maybe I should purchase another one of equal price. I looked at the STR-920 but am not sure if there is much of a differance, and I've also looked at similar Dennons. FYI HDMI is very important to me. Also in case I decide to keep the 820, can anyone tell me if the HDMI inputs/output is v1.3a?

Thanks and Happy Holidays to all

Re: Reciever

Since it can handle the new HD audio formats, yes, it should be v1.3a HDMI.

Re: Reciever

Hi Erik, the entry-level Sony AVR's have a reputation for poor reliability, it's not until you get into the much higher priced Sony ES-Series that their receiver's really begin to shine.

At a similar price point you may want to consider an Onkyo 606.

Cheers,

Re: Reciever

Yes, it's HDMI 1.3a

Have you hooked it up? Do you like it? Then keep it.
