I am looking into 7.1 Onkyo speakers and receiver. is it possible to buy a frame to slide the speakers into that is mounted in the wall. how do most people go about hanging that brand of speaker?

Re: In wall speakers/mounts

I haven't heard of such a frame. If you're relativel handy, you could build a niche and trim it out...basically an inverted shelf. Not recommended if the speakers are ported on the rear, however.

For wall mounting, the speakers will either have a keyhole slot or a threaded insert, possibly both. The keyhole works pretty much like hanging a picture...set a screw in the wall securely enough to hold the speaker's weight and hang the speaker on the screw. The threaded insert allows for use with a number of 3rd party speaker brackets. You mount the bracket to the wall and the speaker screws onto the corresponding threaded stud on the bracket. These usually allow for some degree of aiming the speakers.
