After you've been together 14 years or so, there aren't that many things that truly surprise you. So, this Christmas, the wife decided to do something surprising. We recently expanded and bought out the office space next to us.. so, she sets it all up with her key - wine, some music, etc. On January 1, it's our first day there. So, she decides to throw a real "surprise".
Low and behold, as I walk over and she's "all set up".. but about 10 minutes behind me, one of the people who were previously in this office space (no longer there) walks in.
Talk about a mortified spouse! As the dutiful partner, you have to put out the best concern, but inside, you know you're laughing a bit all the same.
