OK, this is interesting.... Where did you read this? There have been many reports of 'unwanted hum' with these units.

Page 88 of the 805's owner's manual. Advanced setup section for the speaker configuration menu.

"With this setting, you can specify the cutoff frequency of
the LFE channel’s low-pass filter (LPF), which can be
used to filter out unwanted hum. The LPF only applies to
sources that use the LFE channel."

Brent,

The music mode I am speaking of is actually an expander for compresed lossy music (MP3) it's available at any time by hitting the audio button along with DEQ, Bass, Treble, etc.

I have all of that turned off.

I have also tried with Audessy on and off and did not notice a big difference on 2ch. I honetly think my room is pretty flat though.. lots of carpet, no large expanses of wall with nothing on them, good room dimensions etc.

I am sure the more transparent the environment the less Audessy has to do, the worse the room, the more tonal shaping it's going to do to achieve flat or close to flat response.
