Seeing as Shout Factory is doing a great job releasing shows like Simon & Simon, Blossom, Son Of the Beach, California Dreams, Room 222, Adam 12 and Mr Belverdere.

It got me thinking about what other shows Shout should release, if they could get the rights to the shows that is.

The Division (2001) starring Bonnie Bedelia and Lisa Vidal (Paramount Home Video)
Drive (2007) starring Taryn Manning, Nathan Fillion and Amy Acker (20th Century Fox)
E-Ring (2005) starring Kerr Smith, Benjamin Bratt and Kelly Rutherford (Warner Bros. Home Video)

Eyes (2005) starring Tim Daly and Eric Mabius (Warner Bros. Home Video)
Family Law (1999) starring Kathleen Quinlan and Dixie Carter (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment)
Father Dowling Mysteries (1989) starring Tom Bosley (Viacom Productions)?

Re: Shout factory doing great job

The rest of Flipper maybe? MGM is sitting on that.

How about Courtship of Eddie's Father.

More Japanese monster TV shows. Spectre Man for one. I guess BCI is doing a lot of that.

Re: Shout factory doing great job

They have been phenomenal.

What I would like Shout! to release:

Mysterious Ways
Peacemakers
Flash Forward
Quincy S3
The Fall Guy S2 (Unfortunately, Fox will probably release this so I hope nothing is substituted or edited. They really did number on S1 and I have been really pulling for Shout! to go after this.)
Ed (I wish this one was possible for them because Brian Ward is a huge fan. It has to be released with the original music intact. Also, I would love to see the unaired pilot included.)
John Doe
The Naked Chef (R1)
Oliver's Twist (the 30 remaining episodes)
Jamie's Great Italian Escape (R1)
Jamie's School Dinners (R1)
Jamie at Home (R1)

I have noticed. Thank you for adding your voice to my thread Flash Forward starring Ben Foster and Jewel Staite (of Firefly/Serenity/Stargate: Atlantis fame).

According to this: Room 222 DVD news: Update about Room 222 - Season 1 | TVShowsOnDVD.com looks like Room 222 is going to become a reality.

I hope that Shout Factory finishes That Girl next year as well.

Re: Shout factory doing great job

I'm happy with what Shout Factory is doing.....However, I wish they would do something to rescue one of their own releases: SCTV!!!! There's still so much left to release and yet this show seems to have been abandoned by them. Most likely a rights issue, but it's still sad not to have them......

For anyone interested, Sony owns the distribution rights to Mysterious Ways. We all know they're not going to release it. I emailed them about it and got the standard no published release date yada yada, but that at least confirms they own the rights to it. Also an email from Lionsgate said that although Lionsgate produced it, Columbia Tristar has the distribution rights.

I'd love to see Shout! release this, but who knows if they could get the rights. With all the new stuff they're releasing now, who knows if they would even try. I would just love to see this show on DVD!

Re: Shout factory doing great job

I would love to see the third and final Volume of Swamp Thing. I've really enjoyed the first two sets a lot, very fun and cheesy show

Absolutely. More SCTV. Especially the final Cinemax year. I don't remember music performances that final year, so maybe that might help.

There are some good suggestions in this thread.

I'd also add "James at 15" which seems like a good fit for Shout along with their other titles "Freaks & Geeks" and "Undeclared".

Anyone know who owns the rights to First Wave (1998) would love to see this show on DVD

Re: Shout factory doing great job

I'd also like to see some hard to get stuff like more Afterschool specials and Weekend specials. BCI did okay with ABC AFterschool Specials but I haven't seen anything else in ages. There are a lot of treasures there just waiting to be dumped on DVDs for us. Little clips are available on youtube. Some of the features they used to play are available for sale, like "The Secret World of Og" and "Cougar". But, along with the BCI released Afterschool specials, it's precious little.

Also, PBS ran a series of shows called "Wonderworks" in the 80s. There are some real gems there too, like "All Summer in a Day". A non-bootleg (assuming non-bootleg) company has a dvd of that particular one but it's rediculously expensive at $60 for a little 28 minute film.

I'd buy everything released from these mentioned...if the price is reasonable.

Re: Shout factory doing great job

I spoke to Ron about a chat with Shout. I also gave him the name of the Shout rep who responds to people's requests on their web forum. Ron liked the idea and emailed the guy. So hopefully he can work it out.

Todd, if there ever will be a chat session with Shout, could you please ask them if some of their upcoming releases (such as California' Dreams and especially Mr. Belvedere) will have unedited episodes?

I'll add my name for more SCTV! I never saw the Cinemax shows, not sure they aired in Canada, but there's so many classic eps pre-NBC I'd kill for. I'm dying to get my hands on a copy of "Sammy Maudlin Jr's Solid Gold Telethon" since my VHS copy vanished

Re: Shout factory doing great job

Which companies are more likely to give the rights to shout to release a show? Warner? Sony? Universal? Who owned the rights to Mr Belvedere, Room 222 and California Dreams
