Sorry to hear about the troubles you and your family are facing. Here's to a quick recovery for your father and for an end to the bad weather.

As for the week's Blu-ray purchases, The Mummy: TODE and Into The Wild are definite. I'll probably get Bottle Rocket, Burn After Reading if I see them at decent prices.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 12-16-2008

Mike; glad all is well with you and yours, I remember the one we had when we lived in upstate NY, we were out of power for 7 days and the one thing we had with us was that the temps did go below 45 for those days we were out of power. Great to see the roundup under stressful circumstances, and with the new BD player, definetly Mummy trilogy in Bluray for me.

It was put out by the same company that put out those 1st Season Beverly Hillbillies releases, they were direct from the estate of Paul Henning and were from 16mm masters, so hopefully the Paramount release looks better. their Beverly Hillbillies set did, and it featured the original "Commercial" conclusions, althought I don't think they did the same for PJ.

Interesting.

I have that season 1 of The Beverly Hillbiliies (I can't think of the name of the company, either) and didn't know how Paramount could really improve upon it. I thought it was pretty well done.

I might be tempted to pick up a season of PJ when Meredith MacRae hits the show. I had a schoolboy crush on her! Oh...those girls of Hooterville!

Mike,

I'm about 90 miles south of you, and all we got was rain. In fact, it hit 60 here today! I hope it has warmed up for you.

Oh I've been to Fishkill, Richard! I also lived & worked for six years in Monticello & Liberty in nearby Sullivan County.

Again, a big thanks to everyone for the well wishes. Today brought the good news of warm temperatures and the end of the ice. However, winds and melting ice have actually caused outages to increase in the area. While once down to 77,000 without power, the number has risen back up to 85,840.

My mom & dad continue to be without power--now heading into the fifth day! The good news for them is that my dad talked the doctors into letting him out of the hospital and has returned home to us to continue his recuperation from the pneumonia!

That's very good news Mike! Hopefully they can get their power back soon. Isn't nearly everyone's supposed to be back by late tomorrow night (Just in time for the next storm)?

FYI

Blockbuster has been given the go ahead to put
Traitor on the shelves.

I'm sure others have done the same.

So true!

And, their power's back on as of about an hour or so ago!

Now it's just a question of seeing how long it takes to bring the house back up to a decent (liveable) temperature!

Good luck to you guys getting iced in (and to Mike's dad).

Shouldn't that photo caption say "Brendan Fraser's Stuntman & Jet Li?"

You got that right, girlfriend!

My dad would be the first guy to tell anyone else to take their medicine and do what the doctors tell them. But those rules don't go for him. Mom's got her hands full. They moved back home after dinner tonight.

It was really kind of fun having a little forced family togetherness.

I'm a sucker for fancy boxes, so I ordered it from their web site. Amazon is price matching the set but they've had the standard art up for over a month now. If I end up getting the standard packaging instead of the car, BB's web site shows the Mach 5 box, I'll still be happy. $20 is a very good price for the set.

The only new release I want is the Mummy 3 but I'm going to wait for it to come down in price before I buy it.

Yep, I saw it at most major retailers over the past two days. I think most just put it out on Tuesday, as usual.

Sam's Club had some Blu-Ray/SDVD bundles today for $20.88. No major new titles, but I did get The Bank Job bundle. I'd been wanting that title, and it was basically like getting the BR for free, so I have now officially purchased by first BR disc. Now I just need a BR player and an HDTV.

I believe "The Women" DVD and BD were pushed to next week. If I am wrong, I apologize for my forthcoming tardy review of the DVD.

Regards,

I tell ya, Ken...release dates at the end of a calendar year are just impossible. And then they just move things around anyway. Like TonyD reported, Traitor is now everywhere.

Anyway, Amazon is now reporting The Women as a 12-19-08 release.
