What software do I use to rip DVDs to hard disk?

I'd like to get my DVD library on hard disk so I can play movies from my PC using MyMovies or something similar. What software do I need to use to rip them to the hard disk? I had read somewhere about just being able to "copy" the DVD directly without any translation as well. I'm not sure what is required for that either.

What's the best tool out there for this job?

Thanks!

Sorry, but this subject cannot be discussed at HTF. From the HTF Rules:

Quote:
5. Respect for copyrights. Home Theater Forum has a strict policy of respecting the rights of copyright holders. . . . We also do not allow discussion of (a) how to make unauthorized copies of video or audio materials, (b) how to defeat any form of copy protection (including, for example, how to make “personal” copies of commercially produced DVDs) . . . .
