I have Dish Network and will soon be adding an HTPC to my home theater. I was hoping to use the HTPC to provide DVR functionality, but got thinking about how the DISH receiver does the channel changing, a tuner in the PC wouldn't be able to change the channel on the receiver when the time to record a scheduled show came.
How do people get around that? Is there a way to control the receiver by emulating the IR remote from the PC or am I missing something?
It would still be better than nothing to be able to record the channel I am on, but I was hoping to be able to schedule recordings like I can currently with the DVR built-in to my DISH receiver.
