Best Cable/Sat Provider for HDTV in Manhattan

Hi All,

I just moved into a new apartment in Manhattan where I have a private roof deck. I used to have Time Warner Cable and I was not extremely impressed with their HD lineup. Now that satellite is an option I'd like to know who has the most HD channels and the best service?

I think all my options are:

Time Warner Cable
Optimum
Dish Network
Direct TV
FiOS is coming soon

I'm also interested in a DVR and would love to hear your opinions about the ones that are provided vs. Tivo or something else. Thank you so much!

A lot of us may be looking to you for guidance in the future, because most Manhattan apartments don't have all those choices. Most, like me, are stuck with Time Warner and so have never explored the alternative line-ups.

I can tell you this, though: When FIOS gets here, I'll be saying goodbye to TWC.
