Ok wow.

this looks truly beautiful.
I'm sure someone will find something wrong,
but to my non EE/ringing/dnr seeing eyes, just awsome.

sound lfe will shake your socks.
I don't even have my bass shakers hooked up ad while Horton was
running through the jungle our chairs were really rattling.

the movie is good too.

Really, Tony?!?

I don't know why I doubt this...I guess it's just that most renditions of Dr. Seuss material (outside of the original animated Grinch) have fallen flat for me.

I'd like to hear more of your thoughts.

All the stills I've seen sure do make the image look good, though.

I havent watched the first cartoon in many years or read the ook since i was a little kid, but it seems to be very close to what i remember the story being.

I liked it very much.

I'm really surprised there hasn't been one review on any of the major sites yet.

Here's a mini-review of sorts.

It's interesting in that the reviewer deals with my biggest concern--Jim Carrey's tendency to go over-the-top. I hated the live-action Grinch...after desperately wanting to love it.

well that samurai dream sequence is what
made me laugh the hardest, i loved the scene.
same with the JFK thing, laughed.

carey's "mugging" doesn't bother me a little bit, it comes with the territory
and it is one of the reasons i like Jim Carey, he makes me laugh.

I think he has shown he can take on a serious role and am thrilled that he
continues to comedy.

I don't know why his style is said to be mugging for the camera,
to me it is energy, he has plenty of it
and it really comes through in his comedy.

I did the first time i saw it at the movies.
I've only watched it once since then and in bits and pieces here and there.

I do think it may have been filmed too dark, not colorful enough, bland.

78% fresh on the Tomatometer. That's worth at least a rental, in my opinion. I've been looking forward to this release for a while.

I'm pretty familiar with the book, as my young kids ask me to read it to them often. As such, I'm probably more sensitive to deviations from the source than others might be. A.O. Scott of the NY Times notes some of those deviations in his review. They were enough to keep me out of the theater, but I tend to be more forgiving of these kinds of things when I'm not shelling out the big bucks for theater admission.
