speaker buzzing problem

Hi,

I'm new to surround sound, so your help would be much appreciated. I bought a used 5.1 system and I can't get the center speaker to stop buzzing. It buzzes as soon as I turn on the receiver, and keeps buzzing while the music plays. The receiver is an RCA. Looking forward to getting this problem fixed. Thanks!!

Move one of the left/right speakers to the center.

If the buzz stops - the center speaker has issues. If the buzz continues, the receiver has issues.

Try re-wiring the center speaker just to make sure you are not picking up interference.

For grins - turn the system on so you can hear the buzz. The disconnect your main CATV coax from your system. If the buzz goes away - you have noise coming in from the CATV coax. Call the cable company and have them install a grounding block outside your house.
