823.  Doctor Who:  "The Deadly Assassin, Part Four" (20 Nov 1976)  A bit of a let down from the previous episode, but still quite good.
824.  Dark Shadows:  Episode 394 (28 Dec 1967)  Angelique uses Jeremiah to convince Barnabas to go through with the marriage.
825.  The Beverly Hillbillies:  "Elly Starts to School" (16 Oct 1963)  Mrs. Drysdale arranges for Elly to go to The Willows, an exclusive finishing school, in a bid to run the Clampetts off, but Miss Hathaway gets to the school first and convinces the girls that Elly's hillbilly clothes are the next big thing.  (And TBH, she was only off by about five years.)  This episode features Sharon Tate as one of the students.  When growing up, I always got a chill when I saw her in this show.

16 Oct 2009
826.  Dark Shadows:  Episode 395 (29 Dec 1967)  Joshua disowns Barnabas, but Naomi gives the couple the deed to the Old House.  Meanwhile, Angelique loses control over Jeremiah.

17 Oct 2009
827.  Glee:  "Throwdown" (14 Oct 2009)
828.  Dark Shadows:  Episode 396 (1 Jan 1968)  Barnabas hides Victoria in the Old House, and she confesses to him that she is from 1967.  Meanwhile, on the eve of the wedding, Jeremiah kidnaps Angelique and buries her alive in his own grave.
829.  Peyton Place:  Episode 10 (15 Oct 1964)  Founder's Day continues, and much is bubbling to the surface.

19 Oct 2009
830.  Heroes:  "Redemption:  Chapter Five - Tabula Rasa" (19 Oct 2009)
831.  Dark Shadows:  Episode 397 (2 Jan 1968)  Ben rescues Angelique and the wedding proceeds, but Jeremiah (who's acting as much like a ghost as a zombie) continues to threaten her.

20 Oct 2009
832.  Dark Shadows:  Episode 398 (3 Jan 1968)  Angelique finds Victoria hiding in the Old House and decides to send Abigail a dream revealing the hiding place.
833.  Peyton Place:  Episode 11 (20 Oct 1964)  Betty gets Rod away from Allison, and tells him she knows about their parents' affair, and that she's pregnant.  Then, tragedy strikes...
834.  Petticoat Junction:  "The Courtship of Floyd Smoot" (22 Oct 1963)  When Floyd is dumped by a female pen pal, Kate tries to build up his self esteem.

837.  The Beverly Hillbillies:  "The Clampett Look" (23 Oct 1963)  A comedy of errors, Clampett-style.  The wealthy Fenwicks want to ingratiate themselves to the Clampetts, while the Clampetts think they're a poor widow and her daughter needing their help.

851.  Heroes:  "Redemption:  Chapter Seven - Once Upon a Time in Texas" (2 Nov 2009)
852.  Dark Shadows:  Episode 407 (16 Jan 1968)  Angelique cannot lift the cure, and tries to hide Barnabas, but Josette discovers him delirious and near death.

3 Nov 2009
853.  Dark Shadows:  Episode 408 (17 Jan 1968)  Josette goes to Victoria and pleas with her to remove Barnabas' curse.  Victoria tells Josette about the Collins family history hidden in her room, allowing Josette to learn her fate.  Her intelligence has been continually dropping during this storyline, but honestly, could Victoria get any more stupid?  She's accused of witchcraft, and just keeps handing people incriminating evidence.  No wonder Alexandra Moltke got frustrated with the character.
854.  Peyton Place:  Episode 15 (5 Nov 1964)  The newlyweds return home, breaking Allison's heart, and receiving a chilly reception from the Harringtons.  But with her behavior, Betty is truly her father's daughter, more's the pity.
855.  Petticoat Junction:  "The Ringer" (5 Nov 1963)  Betty Jo enters the annual Shady Rest Horseshoe Tournament and ends up in the championship round again Pixley Fats.  One thing that bothers me about the episode is that Kate asks Betty Jo to lose the final round because pitching horseshoes is the only thing Pixley Fats has in his life.

5 Nov 2009
856.  Dark Shadows:  Episode 409 (18 Jan 1968)  Barnabas dies from Angelique's curse, but vows to return to Josette.
857.  Dark Shadows:  Episode 410 (19 Jan 1968)  Barnabas is buried in the secret room of the Collins mausoleum (which was built as a weapons store during the war.)  Angelique plans to stake Barnabas before he rises.

6 Nov 2009
858.  Dark Shadows:  Episode 411 (22 Jan 1968)  Barnabas strangles Angelique before she can carry out her plan, and then discovers that he is now a vampire.

7 Nov 2009
859.  The Beverly Hillbillies:  "Chickadee Returns" (6 Nov 1963)  The title says it all -- stripper Chickadee Laverne is back, and the plot revolves around the different meanings of the word "engagement."

8 Nov 2009
860.  Gatchaman:  "Kamisoral, the Guillotine Iron Beast" (22 Apr 1973) (Japanese and English soundtracks and with commentary)  It's Galactor's latest mecha-of-the-week:  an invisible praying mantis that can damage the God Phoenix.  Luckily, Dr. Nambu has plan up his lab coat sleeve...

9 Nov 2009
861.  Dark Shadows:  Episode 412 (23 Jan 1968)  Peter lets Victoria out of jail to recover the Collins family history.  When Natalie sees her at Collinwood, Peter lies about releasing her, which Trask takes as proof that the witch can be in two places at once.

11 Nov 2009
862.  Dark Shadows:  Episode 413 (24 Jan 1968)  While Victoria warns Naomi to keep Sarah at home, the child runs into the forest when she sees Barnabas outside Collinwood.
863.  Dark Shadows:  Episode 414 (25 Jan 1968)  Sarah is in the mausoleum when Barnabas returns from feeding, and the bloody sight sends her screaming into the woods, just as a storm breaks.
864.  Peyton Place:  Episode 16 (10 Nov 1964)  Dr. Rossi talks with Betty about her deception, and takes Constance to his new cottage... a cottage that makes her very uncomfortable.
865.  Petticoat Junction:  "Kate's Recipe for Hot Rhubarb" (12 Nov 1963)  When bookworm Bobbie Jo has to go on a double date with Billie Jo, Kate teaches her how to be attractive to men.
866.  The Beverly Hillbillies:  "The Clampetts Are Overdrawn" (13 Nov 1963)  Turns out the Commerce Bank of Beverly Hills has two J. D. Clampetts banking there -- the one we know, and an out-of-work actor.  Unfortunately, the bank get their monthly statements mixed up...
867.  Gatchaman:  "The Plan to Assassinate Dr. Nambu" (29 Apr 1973) (Japanese and English soundtracks and with commentary) Galactor has had a brainstorm.  If you kill Dr. Nambu, you cripple the ISO.  Took them long enough to figure that one out.

13 Nov 2009
868.  Dark Shadows:  Episode 415 (26 Jan 1968)  Sarah becomes deathly ill from being out in the storm all night.  Ben surreptitiously brings Barnabas into Collinwood, and Sarah dies in his arms.

Tim,

Just a quick note, somewhat related.  My daughter and I finished episodes 80-84 today, and plan to finish the remaining four from Dark Shadows: The Beginning (Collection 3) either tonight or tomorrow.  We're at the point where David has just locked Victoria in the East Wing room because he thought she was accusing him of stealing Burke's fountain pen.  Great stuff, for sure.

BTW, episode #83 was a kinescope.  The kinescopes are some of my favorite episodes of Dark Shadows, as they have the 'feel' of being doubly creepy and timeless.

The show was about to begin a major upswing at that moment.  Josette's ghost had already manifested herself for the first time, Bill Malloy's ghost is about to show up, to be followed by Matthew's captivity of Victoria, and the arrival of Laura Collins.  The most original run in the show's history.  Only the 1795 and 1897 storylines approach that level.

The one thing I don't like about the show is the unresolved plotlines.  Once it became a spook show, Victoria's quest for her parentage was jettisoned, leaving her character adrift.  I also thought the neutering of Burke's character was a mistake.  In addition, writing him out of the show turned DS into all Barnabas all the time, which wasn't fair to either Jonathan Frid or the writers.
