314. The Omega Factor: "Powers of Darkness" (11 Jul 1979) A group of college students dabble in the occult and hypnosis, and one regresses to an earlier incarnation as one of the North Berwick witches. Very creepy.

3 May 2009

5 May 2009
323. Doctor Who: "The Pirate Planet, Part Two" (7 Oct 1978)
324. Dark Shadows: Episode 276 (17 Jul 1967) Jason McGuire finally gets his comeuppance. And the second episode in a row without a Victoria Winters introduction.
325. Honey West: "A Stitch in Crime" (26 Nov 1965)

8 May 2009
335. Mystery Science Theater 3000: Show #619 - Red Zone Cuba (17 Dec 1994) Movie: Show: Move over, Ed Wood! Coleman Francis is truly the worst director in the world.

10 May 2009
336. Doctor Who: "The Stones of Blood, Part One" (28 Oct 1978)
337. Dark Shadows: Episode 279 (20 Jul 1967)
338. The Benny Hill Show: Episode 3 (4 Feb 1970)
339. Honey West: "Invitation to Limbo" (17 Dec 1965) Since it deals with corporate espionage and hypnosis, this is the most spy-show-like episode yet. Guest-starring a very young looking Wayne Rogers.
340. The Wild Wild West: "The Night of the Cut-throats" (17 Nov 1967) Another lackluster third season episode with no fantastical elements outside of Artemus' MacGyver-like inventions. The pedestrian plot: an ex-con plots revenge on the town that sent him to prison by forming an army of outlaws to burn the place to ground. Guest-starring Jackie Coogan and Beverly Garland.

11 May 2009
341. Doctor Who: "The Stones of Blood, Part Two" (4 Nov 1978)
342. Dark Shadows: Episode 280 (21 Jul 1967)

12 May 2009
343. Doctor Who: "The Stones of Blood, Part Three" (11 Nov 1978)
344. Dark Shadows: Episode 281 (24 Jul 1967)
345. Honey West: "Rockabye the Hard Way" (24 Dec 1965) Guest-starring a young (and surprisingly thin) Joe Don Baker.

355. The Beverly Hillbillies: "The Clampetts Get Psychoanalyzed" (8 May 1963)
356. Gatchaman: "Speed Race from Hell" (4 Feb 1973) (Japanese soundtrack)

16 May 2009
357. Gatchaman: "A Critical Moment for the Science Ninja Team" (Japanese soundtrack) (11 Feb 1973) What could have been a good episode marred by some of the characters behaving uncharacteristicly.
358. Honey West: "A Nice Little Till to Tap" (31 Dec 1965) Featuring a painful performance by a post-stroke Howard McNear.
359. Adventures of Superman: "All That Glitters" (28 Apr 1958) The one where Jimmy dreams that he and Lois gain super powers. Superman/Clark Kent is mostly on the sidelines here, because George Reeves was directing. Since the episodes he directed were some of the best of this season, it makes his death even more tragic.
360. The Benny Hill Show: Episode 4 (11 Mar 1970)
361. The Omega Factor: "St Anthony’s Fire" (25 Jul 1979) When Tom investigates the murder/suicide of two friends, he uncovers the Omega conspiracy developing ergot into a biological weapon.

22 May 2009
374. Mad Men: "Marriage of Figaro" (2 Aug 2007) (with commentary)
375. Mad Men: "New Amsterdam" (9 Aug 2007) (with commentary)
376. Doctor Who: "The Power of Kroll, Part Three" (6 Jan 1979)
377. Dark Shadows: Episode 288 (2 Aug 1967) Dr. Hoffman discovers that Barnabas has no reflection.

23 May 2009
378. Eddie in August (3 Jun 1970) A half-hour silent film made for Thames Television by Benny Hill. I am coming to believe that Hill was the last great silent comedian.
379. Dark Shadows: Episode 289 (3 Aug 1967) Dr. Hoffman discovers Barnabas' coffin.

25 May 2009
380. Doctor Who: "The Power of Kroll, Part Four" (13 Jan 1979)
381. Dark Shadows: Episode 290 (4 Aug 1967)

Viewing was a little light this weekend. I took time to finish all the extras on the Perry Mason: 50th Anniversary Edition, so I saw clips from CBS Nightwatch, Person to Person and Stump the Stars, along with Raymond Burr's screen test... for Hamilton Burger!

26 May 2009
382. Dark Shadows: Episode 291 (7 Aug 1967) Julia proposes treating Barnabas' vampirism.
383. Up Pompeii!: "Exodus" (26 Oct 1970)
384. Further Up Pompeii! (31 Mar 1975)

27 May 2009
385. Dark Shadows: Episode 292 (8 Aug 1967)
386. Honey West: "How Brillig, O, Beamish Boy" (7 Jan 1966)
387. The Beverly Hillbillies: "Elly Becomes a Secretary" (22 May 1963)
388. One Step Beyond: "Tidal Wave" (30 Aug 1960) A nerve wracking true story about a polio paralzyed woman trying to escape the 1960 Chilean tsunami headed for Hawaii.

28 May 2009
389. Gatchaman: "Who is Leader X?" (18 Feb 1973) (Japanese soundtrack and with commentary)
390. Gatchaman: "The Firebird Versus The Fire-Breathing Dragon" (25 Feb 1973) (Japanese soundtrack)
391. Dark Shadows: Episode 293 (9 Aug 1967)
392. Honey West: "King of the Mountain" (14 Jan 1966) One of the joys of vintage television is seeing familiar faces in unfamilar surroundings. For example, this episode guest-starred the ubiquitous David Opatoshu, Dennis Patrick (Jason McGuire on Dark Shadows), and old Jaws and Eegah himself, Richard Kiel.
393. The Omega Factor: "Out of Body, Out of Mind" (1 Aug 1979) Tom's brother Michael is recovering, but starts having out of body experiences, which causes him to discover that his friend Hamish Mboto is being programmed to kill an African leader.
394. The Wild Wild West: "The Night of the Legion of Death" (24 Nov 1967)

29 May 2009
395. Dark Shadows: Episode 294 (10 Aug 1967) Sarah helps Maggie Evans escape Windcliff and return to Collinsport.
396. Mad Men: "5G" (16 Aug 2007) (with both commentaries)

30 May 2009
397. The Benny Hill Show: Episode 5 (28 Oct 1970)
398. Mystery Science Theater 3000: Show #413 - Manhunt in Space (with General Hospital, Segment 1) (19 Sep 1992) Movie: Show: This MST3K episode could count as double, because it consists of a fragment of a '60s soap opera and three episodes of Rocky Jones, Space Ranger edited into a feature-length movie.
399. Honey West: "It’s Earlier Than You Think" (21 Jan 1966) A sci-fi tinged episode dealing with a machine that causes advanced aging by radiation.
400. Gatchaman: "The Mecha-Ball Runs Wild" (4 Mar 1973) (Japanese soundtrack)

31 May 2009
401. Gatchaman: "The Neon Giant that Smiles in the Dark" (11 Mar 1973) (Japanese soundtrack)
402. Father Knows Best: "24 Hours in Tyrantland" (1959 episode produced for a US Treasury Savings Bond drive) While it barely works as a heavy-handed piece of anti-Communist propaganda, as an episode of FKB... not so much.
403. The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet: "The Reading Room" (20 Feb 1957)
404. The Honeymooners: "Head of the House" (31 Mar 1956)
405. Alfred Hitchcock Presents: "Help Wanted" (1 Apr 1956)
406. Honey West: "The Perfect Un-crime" (28 Jan 1966) Honey and Sam are hired by a repentant embezzler who wants to return his loot before he gets found out.
407. Gatchaman: "The Magma Giant, Emperor of Hell" (18 Mar 1973) (Japanese and English soundtracks) Only the Japanese would have the audacity to create a giant monster with the face of Jesus Christ... and get away with it.
