I just finished watching it as well and I was totally impressed. I got the BluRay with the bike. I didn't really like the masks. Anyway, it was a little weird having my screen resize but it was always at a transition so it took me a while to notice. The sound was amazing as well as the pq. I must admit, I was a little worried about this after reading all the negative comments but I got it anyway. It was wort every penny. What a ride!!!!!!!

Same here. In fact, I actually thought it enhanced the viewing experience. The IMAX sequences were truly jaw dropping.

On my set EE was minor and I wouldnt even have noticed if it wasnt mentioned.

The changing aspect ratio didnt bother me at all.


Thought this disc was killer.

For those looking for a deal, I used a Papa John's $3.00 off "The Dark Knight" dvd coupon on my Blu-ray purchase at Wal-Mart. The price my WM had it for was $24.96. After coupon it was $21.96. Not bad. Like others have stated the PQ and AQ are stunning. If nobody mentioned it, I would have not noticed the EE either. It's like a small crack on or in something, you don't notice until it's pointed out. After that you can't stop noticing it.

92" screen. Panny ae3000u 1080P/24 PS3

Unfortunately on my settup, the EE in the 35mm scenes was very noticeable and at times a bit distracting. Even oddly enough in a few of the imax shots. I know to some it appears minor but it shouldn't be there at ALL. This is a VERY high profile release of the #1 film of the year.

Ledger was great though...

Jacob I work at a bbv, we don't have a ps3/blu-ray hooked up
to the 3 extra tvs around the store just the one on the kiosk.

also i'm not surprised the 3 tv screens don't look right.
after ours were installed I had to go in and fix the ratios and
contrast levels.

Watched this again tonight on a standard 16:9 screen (2:35 screen for first viewing) at 110". LOVED IT! The EE is VERY minor IMO and did not in ANY way take away from the overall PQ or movie itself. That issue is WAY overblown IMO, and is a non-issue IMHO, but enough of that

AQ is fan-fricken-tastic. Holy LFE!

Best BR purchase of the year for me easily as I LOVE this movie and the A/V presentation overall is top notch. The reviewers I trust (such as Ralph Potts) nailed this one as far as A/V is concerned.

the ps3 playing the bluray was the seperate from the 3 other regular dvd that was playing it.. it was like night and day.

I work in the Canadian equivalent to Best Buy, and I made sure that everyone buying the film on either format walked out of there with a Steelbook.

Most people in there had a Blu-ray, and the store I'm in received almost 400 copies of it!

I even got a 'I Believe In Harvey Dent' campaign button.

I bought the BD steelbook, as the Batpod version was clearly NOT worth $60. I have a toy version with a Batman on it, and the model looked slightly better than that, but not THAT much better.

The shifting AR ENHANCES the film, no doubt, and I don't know about edge enhancement, but the IMAX scenes stand out as having a better resolution, just like in the theater!

After viewing this, I'll be at Target to pick it up, the Bat Mask set that is.

The varying AR isn't too bad, only was it a distraction during the daylight scenes, being that the film is primarily dark it's noticeable but not a distraction. As for EE, what EE? I didn't notice any. The TrueHD track is fantastic as well. The PQ is also first rate.

This is a fantastic presentation on Blu.

Just a quick story....

I don't have time to watch movies in general. I have at least 1000
titles still in their shrinkwrap. When I find time to watch a movie
it's usually a special event for me.

So, I receive my BD copy of The Dark Knight from Amazon
yesterday. Pop it in my Panny player, sit back, and I'm enjoying the
opening booms of the Warner Logo and DC Comics fanfare until.....
BAM! Major power failure. The county I live in lost power for about
an hour or so last night. That was it. Ruined all the time I had.

So, I hope all of you enjoy this film on Blu-ray. It will take me another
week to finally watch it but I will keep a close eye on your opinions.

Havent watched the GF so I dont know how well he did on that.



I dont like it because Ralph liked it either I just happen to agree with his reviews more times than not and more times than most other reviewers. But even then, I dont always agree with his reviews. Me and Ralph have the same projector and sub which is another reason I like reading his PQ review and LFE portion in particular.

If I was one to let others persuade my thoughts to any significant degree, I would have cast this disc into the depths of hell due to EE which to my eyes is absolutely a non issue and being blown WAY out of proportion. I think for myself, but my experience with this film was VERY similar to what Ralph wrote in his review

Todd, that wasn't meant as a dig at you (I know you made up your own mind) but rather at Mr. Potts. And like I said, I totally agree with your assessments regarding Dark Knight.

He seems to have an absolute scale for ratings, which I highly disagree with. So you take The Godfather, which was meticulous restored by Mr. Robert Harris to look and sound as good (or in Coppola's words perhaps even better) than it did on release date, and because to Mr. Potts it didn't look or sound like The Transformers Blu Ray, it got middling scores. 78 audio, 84 video.

The truth is, The Godfather Blu Ray is as close to perfection as that film is going to look on home video. The crushed blacks are due to the style of photography (Willis and Coppola talk at length about this).

Blu-ray, any home medium, should strive to recreate the perfect theater experience for each particular movie. So The Godfather BD should be rated by how well it represents The Godfather film on home video, not rated against The Transformers or some other smash-bang-gee-whiz CGI-fest loud-as-get-out BD transfer. Any lower than a 95 score for the A/V of The Godfather BD shows that the reviewer isn't reviewing it in its proper context. I know some people will never give a 100 rating because the "perfect" transfer doesn't exist (and I can understand that), but 95 IMO is about right for the Godfather BD.

I watched Dark Knight over two nights (60" display 1080p/24) and thought it looked good, overall. Great contrast, blacks, and good detail even in the 35mm scenes. The IMAX shots were phenomenal.

However, with all of that being said, there is edge enhancement throughout most of the movie and the image does look a bit processed and "digital." I think this has to do with the IMAX master/35mm conversion process, etc.

All in all, I think most people will be happy with it, but the EE could be a bit of a problem for some although I didn't find it severe or horrible. I do think the positives outweigh the negatives on this release for sure. Definitely recommended.

Great points and I agree. Honestly I have not read any of Ralphs reviews of older films so I was not aware of what he has done as far as his reviewing criteria with those. I was speaking of his modern film reviews which is all I have read of his which I do agree with more times than not. I totaly understand your points though and I do agree that a proper context is needed for reviews such as the Godfather.

I am inclined to agree. The video aspect of this Blu-ray release closely mirrors what I saw in the IMAX version. The 35mm stuff definitely looked a bit "digital" then as well.

It's a great disc. I wasn't let down a bit.

I was surprised there was no comic documentary this time. The ones on the history of the character were great on both the Batman Begins and Tim Burton discs. A look into the Joker and Two-Face would have been very welcome.

For that matter, I would have liked more on the villains' looks, fusing the makeup with (in Two-Face's case) the cg.

It would seem like a spoiler would be a reasonable way to go. That way people who would just like to have the info can havee it...and those who'd rather look for the egg themselves can go that way.

Personally, I think Easter Eggs are nonsensical.
