PRICES OF BLU-RAY PLAYERS HIT MASS MARKET LEVELS
New Prices Perfectly Timed for Busy Holiday Shopping Season
LOS ANGELES (November 18, 2008) – DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group released today a list of Blu-ray Disc players that will be available in time for the all-important holiday selling season at prices ranging from $300 to below $200. Blu-ray Disc players deliver the highest picture and sound quality for viewing movies, concerts and other packaged media on HDTVs and provides an incredible value proposition for consumers.
A study conducted by the DEG earlier this Fall found that 60 percent of HDTV owners said that the major reason why they don’t yet own a Blu-ray player was because the players were too expensive. Given the latest product introductions, consumers can now purchase a set-top player from a wide variety of retail and online outlets at affordable prices.
“Blu-ray Disc players deliver the highest quality in both picture and sound and offer film lovers the ultimate home entertainment experience,” said Amy Jo Smith, Executive Director, DEG. “With inexpensive Blu-ray players now widely available, Blu-ray becomes the ideal attachment for every HDTV.”
