CES 2009

Starting to put together plans to attend CES in January 2009. Anyone from HTF planning to go?

This should be a good year for 3D demos from Sensio, Panasonic and others. Last year RayJr and his wife and I had an extensive private session with Sensio at The Flamingo. And I spent time with their lovely Stereoscopy Technician, Melanie Trudel in the Convention Center further discussing their technology. Those of us who saw the cutting edge 3D demo at the HTF Hollywood Meet know this is very exciting stuff.

By the way, the star performer at the Monster Cable Retailer Awards and Concert at the Paris Hotel on Friday night is Diana Ross. Good luck getting a ticket!

Re: CES 2009

hi guys
I will have my training room up and running on Saturday and Sunday. You are welcome to come by and CalMan is having a press release Saturday evening so there will be free food (buffet) and open bar.
We also have a block of really cheap hotel rooms...39 a night (79 on Friday and Saturday). The only draw back is it is 8 miles from the convention center. Feel free to book using our discount code:

Hi guys

Just a quick note.

We have a block of rooms reserved in Henderson at the Fiesta Hotel and Casino. It is 8 miles (all interstate) from the Convention Center. Room rates are $39 a night ( $ 79 Friday and Saturday Night).

The Video Training room will be open on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday for additional hands on time. Also on Saturday evening CalMan will be hosting a press release of their 2 new meters, one being a spectro radiometer. There will be a complimentary buffet and open bar on Saturday evening.

The rooms will be sold out quickly. Here is the booking information:

Please have guests call Room Reservations direct at (800) 388-8334, and identify the THX group rates. If they do not recognize the THX rate try THXLIONAV.

Rooms from Jan 5-15th at $39 a night, Friday and Saturday are $79.

I hope to see you there!!

Re: CES 2009

Is your Video Training room in Henderson or in Las Vegas? You might also want to register with the CES Bloggers to get into their Friday night party at the Atomic Testing Museum. Your HTF connection makes you the perfect candidate. Connect with them here:

Request an invite — It Won't Stay in Vegas

I'll be staying near the Venetian/Sands Convention Center at either the Imperial Palace or Casino Royale, arriving on either Monday evening or Tuesday morning. The first press event is Tuesday evening, followed by three days of press conferences.

Re: CES 2009

cool, thanks
Yes, my hotel and training room is in Henderson...about 7 miles from the convention center. It was the only place I could find that was somewhat reasonably priced.

Re: CES 2009

I see you made the guest list for the party at the Atomic Testing Museum. Great museum- I saw it last year when I was in town for the air show for the 60th anniversary of the USAF. Should be a fun party!

Are you attending any seminar sessions or other events in Las Vegas? The Thursday afternoon session on 3D TV looks interesting.

Re: CES 2009

Anyone attending CES as a CES Blogger should also register with CntrStg for access to their suite at the Wynn and some potential cool swag:

And don't forget Showstoppers (also at the Wynn):

CEA offers three convenient options for registering for the International CES: online, fax or mail. Please see details below on how to register online or update your registration and for more information on registering by fax or mail

Qualified Press/Analysts/Bloggers
In response to exhibitor and media suggestions, we have implemented a stricter credentialing process for editorial press, analysts and bloggers. Our high standards for press/analyst/blogger registration will help ensure that we have enough services for editorial media and analysts, thus making it easier for you to do your job. For any questions on this process, you may e-mail Press@CE.org or call 703-907-4365.

If you are not a credentialed journalist, analyst or blogger you must go here to register as a general attendee.

Press/Analysts/Bloggers Credentials

For editorial press, you must provide at least one of the following:

Copy of or an Internet link to a published industry-related article from the last six months (must have name in byline),
Publication masthead listing you as an editorial contributor; or
A current photo press ID from an official media outlet.
For freelancers, you must provide at least one of the following:

Copy of or an Internet link to a published industry-related article from the last six months (must have name in byline); or
A current press photo ID.
For analysts, you must provide at least one of the following:

Copy of or an Internet link to a published industry-related article from the last six months (must have name in byline);
Copy of a financial article quoting you as a financial or market analyst; or
Copy of or an Internet link to industry-related financial report written within the past six months listing you as a contributor.
For bloggers, you must provide the following:

A link to an industry-related blog entry posted within the past six months with your name in the byline.

If you've been running your own website like some HTFers or doing extensive blogging at HTF it looks like you'd qualify. Give it a shot and come to Las Vegas next month. Inexpensive rooms are still available at the Imperial Palace, close to the Venetian/Sands Convention Center. Attending as press is the best way to attend. Anyone can PM me about what to expect at CES.

Re: CES 2009

Hi guys! I have been working my butt off for three weeks now getting ready for CES. SVS will be accepting Sound and Vision's Editors Choice Award for the MTS Home Theater Speaker System they came out with in 08.

I have been working arm and arm with Ron on building proto-types of the next line of speakers they are coming out with. Just trust me: they are the coolest things I have ever seen. I cant wait to have a full set at my house, and I hope the rest of my family will get them for their houses too.

Get a hold of us so we can catch up and party!

Re: CES 2009

Hey guys, I really blew it big time by not getting a pass to CES this year..but since I live in Henderson, maybe I can hook up with some folks for dinner and/or drinks. In fact, I live a few blocks from the Fiesta in Henderson.

Look forward to seeing some of you folks again,
