Hi, my mothers receiver went dead recently which was an RCA home theater in a box (HTIB) system. I recently updated my receiver so I replaced it with my old one, a Sony STR-DB930. The sub from the HTIB is unpowered and only has one set of +/- terminals like a regular speaker. The Sony receiver has an RCA jack for the sub. The receiver also has A/B connections for front speakers of which the A is only currently used. My question is can I somehow use the B connectors to hook up the sub and if so how would I hook it up? Can I run two sets of wires, one set from the right and one set from the left B connectors to the sub? I don't want my mother spending $100 or more on another sub as it's not as critical to her but I don't want to damage the receiver either. Thanks in advance.

Re: Subwoofer usable?
DO NOT run both sets of wires from the "B" speakers to the sub, unless you want a smoking receiver. Maybe you can run one set, but I doubt it. There probably isn't a practical way to use that sub. You can get a sub amp, but you are probably better off just getting a cheap powered unit. I think partsexpress.com has a decent Dayton sub for $100.
