Is NTSC HD Compatible with PAL HD

Hello, I am new here and I tried searching for this topic but was unable to find any information. So I apologize if this has already been asked.

I just moved to Austria from the United States of America. I currently own an NTSC XBOX 360 and NTSC PS3. My question is, would there be any problem connecting these to an HDTV I would purchase here? I understand that NTSC and PAL have different resolution, but HD is the same in resolution. I also understand that there is a difference in refresh rate between the two formats 50/60Hz. So is there anyway this would work and if not what solutions would I have ahead of me? Thanks in advance and I apologize for my ignorance on the subject.

Re: Is NTSC HD Compatible with PAL HD

Hello, John.

Welcome to the forum!

On HD there is no longer a difference between PAL and NTSC, in fact those systems only exist on 480i resolution equipment.

You may want to check your power supply needs, but that's quite another story.

There still is a region division: not on "the old" HD DVD, but possible on BD: some releases (e.g. the US Bond sets are listed as such) may be restricted to 1 region only (A = US, B = Europe).
