hi guys

I was at the HD3 Conference on Tuesday and the Best Buy rep stated they would be selling a $129 BD player.

What other screaming deals have you heard of ??

Re: Black Friday Deals ??? Whats the scoop

I heard on TV that WalMart will be selling a laptop for $227. I have not been able to confirm this.

Black Friday 2008

So far nothing worth getting out of bed at 3AM for.

Re: Black Friday Deals ??? Whats the scoop

As usual, I have no expectation to get out of bed early (or probably even bother to go anywhere to fight crowds that day). You're probably better off trying to make a few fast bucks from the stock market craze while it lasts instead.

Re: Black Friday Deals ??? Whats the scoop

BFAds.com got the Best Buy ad but commented that it didn't have ANY special deals in it, so I didn't bother to look. They do some sort of "secret sale" specials in addition though.

The other day they said that BJs would be selling a Wii bundle with 3 games and 3 sets of controllers for $224(!!!), but today they said the price was really going to be $424.

Re: Black Friday Deals ??? Whats the scoop

This is the first year in almost a decade where I haven't seen anything I want that I would be willing to get up way early and get in line for stuff.

Re: Black Friday Deals ??? Whats the scoop

According to the circular, Wal-Mart's so-called doorbuster deals offered between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. ET will include a 50-inch Samsung plasma HDTV ($798), Magnavox Blu-ray player ($128),

Wal-Mart's Black Friday deals - Nov. 14, 2008

What model would the Samsung be?

Re: Black Friday Deals ??? Whats the scoop

If I had to hazard a guess it would be the HP-T5054 (last year's 720p model) or the PN50A450, this year's 720p model.

Re: Black Friday Deals ??? Whats the scoop

This year, Black Friday could be called Bleak Friday given the economy right now. I am one of those statistics as far as unemployed and I can tell you that I won't be doing any shopping on that Friday.

Same here. I'm pretty disappointed in not only what is being offered but also the price for the things that are listed. There just aren't any of those "wow! are you kidding me!" type deals this year.

"wow your kidding me?"

a 50" panel for $798

that is pretty screaming !! ??

Re: Black Friday Deals ??? Whats the scoop

It's not bad, but if it were 1080p it would be great! I based my expectations (maybe incorrectly so...) on the fact that you can get a Sharp 42" 1080p panel from Costco today for a dollar more ($799). More screen size vs more resolution. Six of one, half a dozen of the other type decision to be made there. But the fact that I can get it today is what puts a damper on me getting up early Friday morning.

But I will say that if BB does have a namebrand Blu-ray player, from someone like Samsung, for $129 I would be much more enthused.

Re: Black Friday Deals ??? Whats the scoop

Yah, this year the deals don't really seem that great yet. I am kind of glad I have spent the last three years camping out at either Best Buy, Circuit City or Staples from like 8pm until they opened and it does make for a long night. And last year it was not evan for anything I wanted but was for my little sister who was unable to camp out. So hopefully I will be in my bed this thanksgiving night.

Re: Black Friday Deals ??? Whats the scoop

according to BestBuy Black Friday Ad and Best Buy Black Friday Deals for 2008

Insignia BD - $249.99
Samsung BD - $199.99
Sony BD - $249.99

No models given. I wouldn't expect them to sell many Insignias though, even if its the only Profile 1.1 player out of the 3. (Again no idea which sony or Samsnung it is...)
There are some TV "deals" with no models there as well.

Circuit City Black Friday Ad and CircuitCity.com Black Friday Deals for 2008

Circuit has for $199.99 the Samsung BDP1500

Re: Black Friday Deals ??? Whats the scoop

I Always go to JCPenney to get the Snowglobe they Give Away when they first open. (I Collect the Little Buggers!)

This year doesn't look like it will be as spectacular as last year, when I picked up a 37-Inch HDTV for $400 along with a few TV Seasons on DVD and over 30 Movies!! (I'm not surprised, as usually when I have a Blowout one year the following year is a slow one!) This year I'll pick up a Few DVDs from Circuit City however, so there are a few bargains to get off on. It's also kind of fun just to watch all the People do things that any other time of the year they wouldn't do in their right mind!

Re: Black Friday Deals ??? Whats the scoop

I'm thinking the after Christmas sales are going to be pretty good this year. There should be more merchandise to clear out this year than previous years.

Re: Black Friday Deals ??? Whats the scoop

^^ Yes, I have that many! I have a good chance of passing the 8,000 mark by the beginning of the New Year! (Which will also mark the SECOND Anniversary of my discontinuing my subscription to Cable TV. I finally decided that the lack of Decent Shows along with the rediculous amount of Advertising made it no longer worth paying for.)

Guess what I use the Subscription Money on now!

Re: Black Friday Deals ??? Whats the scoop

I was in Big Lots Saturday and bought the following:

Gattica SE DVD (widescreen and all). $3.
The Movies. PC game. $4.

Not real excited about Black Friday. Who needs it unless they will give this kind of stuff away for free.

I've been told by a Fry's employee that they will blow out their remiaing HD-DVD stock on Black Friday.

What sort of pricing constitute blow-out pricing on HD DVDs at Fry's? $5/title?

Re: Black Friday Deals ??? Whats the scoop

inetvideo already has $2-7 HD DVD prices.

I saw gotapex.com had a circuit city listing for the Sammy 50" 1080p plasma with Xbox (and 2 games) for $999. This is screaming. I went to the link but it was off the CC site. Later that day...it was $1499 (which is still a good buy).

Id like to buy a "good" panel, with 1080p 47-52". The $999 price would be great.

Re: Black Friday Deals ??? Whats the scoop

I need to pounce on inetvideo's HD DVDs when they offer the free shipping because their shipping pricing just kills my purchasing impulse.

I have no idea all I know is that the manager of the local Fry's told me that they want to get all of them off the shelves on Black Friday so they can use the space for Blu-Ray and other products.

Re: Black Friday Deals ??? Whats the scoop

I'd get out of bed at any hour for a Sony 32" for under $500 (I have Sony points that need to be used up before the end of the year).

Re: Black Friday Deals ??? Whats the scoop

Any suggestions for the best small LCD TV for my bedroom? I would like to stay around 20" and it seems many places have something around this size.

Last year I got up at 1:00 AM and Camped out in front of K-Mart to get a 37-Inch HDTV for $400.00! It was well worth it!

Matt: While I wouldn't be surprised if you get some answers in this thread, I would post that very question in the "Displays' section of the forum (if I were you). You'll get a lot of answers/opinions there, I would think.
