subwoofer location / coffee table

If you have adequate space under a coffee table in front of a couch with the ability to run the wires under the floor, is that something that is unheard of? I have experimented yet, but I just wanted to see if anyone has tried that.

Re: subwoofer location / coffee table

Not the best idea. Subs usually don't perform well that far away from a boundary. Plus the sound from it will be arriving to your ear much sooner than from the main speakers. That might sound a bit wonky.

Plenty of people do things like that, but as Wayne said, it's not a good idea. I've also never been a fan of "near-field" sub placement. It is far too sensitive to sitting location.
