Report All Forum Software Problems Part II.

I have started this thread to report any further problems with the forum software.

Re: Report All Forum Software Problems Part II.

Page loads appear improved, Parker...but I just made a couple of posts and they still seem to be dragging.

At least the software seems to hang after you push "submit." If the posts get made right away...there's no way to know without refreshing the page or going to a different page and heading back.

Mike:

I don't know what is going on with the larger threads taking longer to post to. We are working on it. I have found that if I post to a larger thread with lot of replies and then hit the reload the page loads fast and the post shows up. The smaller threads don't seem to be an issue.

Re: Report All Forum Software Problems Part II.

I've posted a couple of times in smaller threads, Parker and have still run into the hanging issue.

For example, this week's Weekly Round-Up...which currently has only about 30 posts.

You haven't had that happen, huh?

EDIT** FWIW, this post went right through with no problems.

Mike:

Thanks for the heads up. Are you editing the round up file or posting a new post to thread?

Re: Report All Forum Software Problems Part II.

Just tried the forum after recieving your e-mail asking "How does the software appear to be running now?", and I have to say that for me, it is running noticeably faster compared to this morning and early afternoon.

Those are new posts I'm talking about (responding to other people's questions, etc.).

EDIT** That's funny. Like Tony, this post to this thread just took exactly 30 seconds to go through and refresh my page.

Re: Report All Forum Software Problems Part II.

Okay....this is getting weird. I just went to this week's RoundUp and can report that a new post just took 45-seconds to post and refresh the page.

Again...eerily similar to TonyD's report.

BTW, Parker, I agree with Paul that page loads do seem much improved tonight.

Getting better this post took just 30.5 seconds to get thru.

...and less than a second to edit and save.

Just seven seconds, Parker! By george, I think you've got it!

What did you figure it out to be?

Re: Report All Forum Software Problems Part II.

Well we updated the webserver which then required that we update the database server which then required turning some features off and updating others and.....

Hopefully things will speed up or at least get to the point where there aren't any significant lags.

Re: Report All Forum Software Problems Part II.

I don't think this is the default skin. I am Mac and have Safari browser. I foolishly saw the icon on the bottom of the screen that had several skin choices. I went through them top to bottom, but the bottom one had a specific name and when I clicked on it, it has this entirely different format and candy colors, which I didn't like, but when I went to the bottom of the page, that area to choose skins is no longer there or visible, so I am stuck with this skin. I could choose skins on the the three above this named last one. I know I am being in-articulate on this. I don't think skin is a default one, as I never saw it before.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Re: Report All Forum Software Problems Part II.

Your right. Just tried the "WAP skin" at the bottom of the list and there is no longer a list to choose from, just under the "Post Reply" button:

Edit: Had to log in with a different browser to get the default skin so I could edit this post and correct an error! There is no EDIT button for posts on the "WAP Skin"!
ALSO, every time I make an Edit "Search Engine Friendly URLs by vBSEO 3.2.0" is added again & again & again in the quote area where I'm constantly erasing it.

Re: Report All Forum Software Problems Part II.

John:

If you are still seeing the WAP skin go to the bottom of the page and click on the Log out. This will clear your cookie that you have on your computer. Then you will see the default skin and you can log back in.

Re: Report All Forum Software Problems Part II.

I fixed the dreaded WAP skin so that you can switch to another skin at the top of the page. Check it out.
