Onkyo 605 questions

Hell-O everyone I am new here and have some questions about my Onkyo 605 setup. Here are the components I have 7.1 setup:
FT L&R Klipsch Heresy II on pedicels
Center Klipsch KSC C1
Surround Klipsch KSB 1.1
Surround Back B&W DS "6
Subwoofer Klipsch KSW 10
Sony KDL 40BXR4 LCD
Sony Blue Ray Player 350
All HDMI cables

Question 1 The AV Onkyo cuts the sound out when a commercial comes on for a second as it switches modes I guess. Why does it switch modes? and how to stop that?

Question 2 The room this is all set up in is only 20 X16 feet. Am I too small for a 7.1 and should drop down to a 5.1 set up?

I have more questions but this is a good start. Appreciate any help.

Re: Onkyo 605 questions

Dan, Welcome to HTF.

1. Assign a listening mode to all point to 1 single common DSP. Set these listening modes all to the same DSP. I believe the menu you want is called "listening modes".

2. Where are you sitting? Close to the back wall? My room is about the same size and I have 7.1. My seating is about 8 feet from the back wall and it works well.
