Well I have been saving for quite a while and just purchased the 8.9. Actually my wife was with me and she was the one that said for the 8.9 over the 7.9 as it just sounded better and she said you would just regret it later if you didn't go for the 8.9. I just love my wife. 
So far so good. It sounds just great and the Audessey system is awsome. Of course I did upgrade from a Marantz SR-5300, just a small upgrade.
