I can't believe that no one has started a thread on this.
Real Time with Bill Maher was one of the highlights of my trip last week. What a great experience.
We had to wait outside of the CBS studios to get in for quite a while. About 2 hours. Sitting on very narrow hard metal benches. Not so comfortable! But we all knew that it was going to be worth our wait. And unlike the experience at Jimmy Kimmel, where you were all seated. This one was first come, first serve. I first picked a seat way in the back corner. Not so great. I decided to scoop the place out for a better seat. Boom, front row in the corner there was one seat left and it had my name written all over it. I was so excited about attending this tapping for the past few weeks, that I was just nervous finally sitting there.
The producer of the show came on stage and talked to us for a little bit to get us all pumped up for the show. All of a sudden it was show time. The famous opening tunes were pumping through the studio. Yes, it is finally here!
And there he was, Mr. Maher. About 10 feet away from me, doing his opening monologues. Very, very cool. What a great monolog it was.
Another thing which was very cool. I was sitting right behind the prompter person. She was typing in all of the topics and kept Bill on track for "New Rules". She would type things like: great mono Bill 40" to NR. And then when the panel came on she would type up questions that Bill would then bring up to his panel. And every 5 minutes or so, she would type 35" to NR, 30" to NR. Boom, time for NR. So I could see the topics and questions before Bill even brought them up.
The panel was also awesome. It was great that Tim Robbins kept on reminding us to vote, and vote early. Don't assume, please get out there and vote. The panel was very lively, very funny and very interactive. I hate that sometimes one or two guest keep on talking. And the other guest just kind of sit there. New Rules was also very funny. Man, one hour goes by fast.
When I left the studio, I left with a big grin on my face. And off we went to the "In & Out Burger". What a perfect way to end a perfect day. Thank you to Ron to setting this up. Again, this was one of my highlights of that week.
