WTF ATT

AT&T came by to do install on my Cable yesterday. My wife told him to hook the HDMI back up. The install tech told my wife that Component cables actually were better as there are three cables transfering the AV and has better connectivity versus the small HDMI cable. WTF is this guy a moron or am I missing something? Now I left it alone for a few minutes and I don't know but it looked like a pretty big difference to me. HDMI wins my vote.

The AT&T installer is misinformed. While component cables can carry a 1080 signal just fine, HDMI puts everything (audio included) in one cable with greater bandwidth allowing for better colorspace among other things. I have used both and prefer HDMI.

When I had a 720p TV, I couldn't tell much difference between the analog component and the digital HDMI.

With a 1080p TV, I can tell a definite difference with the component softer and less defined.

What next--that L/R RCA audio cables are better than digital optical or coax audio cables because after all, there are two cables carrying the audio w/ L/R RCA vs. one with optical/coax?
