HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: For Your Eyes Only - Page 2

Re: HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: For Your Eyes Only

Just purchased both For Your Eyes Only and Die Another Day. Has anyone here had problems with the menu loading and not being able to navagate the menu or even being able to play the disc. I own a Sony BDP-S300 player and I believe I have updated it in July. I am going to looking into if there was a firmware update but was wondering if there is a problem with these titles or not?

Update: Found yet another firmware update on Sony's website dated 10/31/08. I will try that and check back if it does not work to see if anyone has had any problems with the Bond titles? I love my Blu-ray player but this is getting old, gone are the days of hitting the power button and it just worked!

There's been an ongoing discussion on the loading and playback problems in this thread: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/...mes-1-2-a.html

Generally it seems like firmware updates are fixing the issues, but there also seem to be exceptions.

There appear to be no problems for those using PS3s.

Re: HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: For Your Eyes Only

I always loved the FYEO. It is my favorite Moore film besides The Spy Who Loved Me (which was the first Bond I saw in a theater). I was let down by Moonraker and thought Jaws had become nothing more than comic relief. I was much happier to get the slightly more serious and back down to Earth 007.

I loved the continuity with him visiting his wife's grave...

And that catchy theme song by my cousin Sheena wasn't bad either!

Ok, she ain't my cousin.

Re: HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: For Your Eyes Only

Sadly my BH 200 wouldn't let me play FYEO.

As a film this is far and away the best Moore Bond as it's far more realistic than flying AMC's, underwater and space obssessed villians and steroid crazed madmen. This is a story much more steeped in reality than what had gone on in the prior and later Moore Bonds. It also had a great female lead in Melina, more than just a showpiece, she was a fully fleshed character on her own personal mission.

Re: HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: For Your Eyes Only

The firmware update fixed my problem. I would have thought that Die Another Day would have been a reference disc since it is not that old. It looks good but I though I would have looked better. I am going to compair the dvd to the Blu-ray later on both DAD and FYEO. I am looking foward to owning every single 007 Bond movie in HD Blu-ray.

Re: HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: For Your Eyes Only

Does anyone notice that the music in the DTS track is heavily right sided? I changed it to the 2.0 track and it was well balanced. I kept it there.

Do I have a bad disc? In the title song the voice came from the right!!
Also, I notice lots of distortion in louds passages.
I´m using sony 350 BD, Denon 789 avr and paradigm cinema speakers.

Please someone check?

Thanks.

Re: HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: For Your Eyes Only

I think FYEO holds up very well today as well. Some of the stunt work on this film is just amazing. The bobsled run in particular. Wow.

The Greece locations are breathtaking too.

This is one of my favorites of the Roger Moore Bond films too.

I always felt the audio was a bit unbalanced on the DVD of the film. I'm looking forward to hearing the HD audio mix.
