Re: Blu-Ray Article on ZD-Net
Can't we all just get along?I purchased my first LD player in 1990, bought many discs and enjoyed it immensely. I could have cared less that it was a niche format - as long as the shiny platters continued to be produced, I was happy. They were VERY expensive, no doubt about that, so I had to be very budget conscience but still amassed quite a collection. Fast forward to 1998 when I purchased my first DVD player. I had high hopes that it would take off but had no idea if it really would - a leap of faith. The jump in PQ was amazing, the discs were cheap compared to LD, and I couldn't resist it. And this year, I jumped into BD. As with DVD, the prices are extremely reasonable compared to the old days of LD, and since there is backwards compatibility, I don't have to repurchase my library of DVDs. I have the same philosophy with BD as I did with LD and DVD - I don't care if it's niche -- just keep 'em coming!
