Subwoofer bass disappeared.......please help

Hi.....

I have little knowledge with home audio. Had new sound system built in new house 2 yrs ago. Went on a friends recommendation and have following system.
- Yamaha RXV459 receiver
- PARADIGM speakers and sub,( cinema ctr channel, cinema 90 speakers and PDR10 subwoofer)

My problem is this....all of a sudden my subwoofer doesnt work anymore. I never adjust any settings and cant understand how this happened. I checked my receiver settings following the manual and all is good... I am not sure if its a problem with the receiver or subwoofer. Is there a way to test a subwoofer? is there a fuse in the box or receiver that could be blown?Everything else works great...... Any help or suggestions are appreciated.....

It could be as simple as you or someone else accidentally changed a setting on the receiver or as major as the sub is blown and you need a new one. You need to start eliminating the obvious - Is the sub plugged into the wall so it has power? Does it have a power light? Is the cable between the sub and receiver connected?

Also, does your sub have a fuse? It could have blown and needs to be replaced. I've read at several online sites that their subs have this issue from time to time.

Re: Subwoofer bass disappeared.......please help

just an update - I took my sub to the store i bought it from...and after they tested it they told me the amplifier was blown. the sub is only 2 years 4mos. old and i rarely have it cranking ( due to kids and wife ). they told me sub has a 3(maybe 5)year warranty but the amp is only warrantied for a year. so i have to pay 175 bucks to get it fixed. I thought paradigm was a good brand, little upset a sub is blown after 2 years, and it gets little use on top of that....fyi

Paradigm is a very good brand but all things break.
