The Thing remake (a disappointment at first, but a classic now)
Cat People (a minor hit at the time, has cult status now)
Conan: The Barbarian (big hit and ongoing cult status)"

Indeed, that's an impressive little list. Love THE THING; had and sold the HD DVD--still need to get the BD.

The ad I talk about happens to be in the post production still pictures of The Thing DVD. The other 2 films in the ad were Videodrome and Dark Crystal so all the films in that ad have at least a healthy cult status.

The Eagles: Farewell Tour I - Live in Melbourne, which was released on HD-DVD has still never been released on Blu-ray, and I don't think that's on anyone's list here. I think Paramount handled it. It's the only HD-DVD I still own.

The one I want above all others is "Forbidden Planet"!!!! I'd like to see some new exclusive BD extras in addition to all the extras from the HD-DVD & a commentary or two. WB can charge just about any amount they want & I'll pay!

It may take some time (apparently sales of the HD DVD were not great, even in relative standards). I also suspect they may do a Casablanca "deluxe-only" release (there was a deluxe HD DVD release--I got the regular one). All three of those titles are expected to be released this year.

Well, if they are released (I'm eager for Grand Prix and Mutiny as well) there's a possibility they're released in a standard case, like Casablanca was. The only thing that's missing from the set is the Jack Warner documentary, I don't know if that's any good, but I can do without it if it's so much cheaper.

I'm definitely on board for Forbidden Planet as well! Grand Prix would be great too.

Perhaps the delay on Forbidden Planet is due to the new sequel in development. I hope not as I'd love to see FP soon.

Not that I've read. There's a UK release of Hollywoodland, but Disney owns it there and I think it's locked to Region B.

I'm also waiting for Streets of Fire.

I own a lot of DVDs (700, maybe?) and don't plan to replace most of them with BDs. However, this is one DVD that definitely needs an upgrade.
