Digital Copies on PSP?

Hi, all.

I'm confused now. I had thought most digital copies (from either DVD SE titles or BD titles) would work on the PSP, but now it sounds to me like *none* of them will work -- based on what I can dig up on Amazon's info pages on the subject (and some quick google work).

So what's the truth? Does *any* of the so-called digital copies out there actually work on the PSP w/out hacking, etc.? If not right now, then will they likely ever (via some sort of firmware/software update, etc)?

No, it's not really for me as I don't care to watch movies on tiny screens, but it's a nice bonus feature for my kid who just got a PSP as a present -- and I had told him we can put digital copies of certain movies on it for him (and even spent the $ on a fast 8GB memory stick for that too).

Thanks for any help on this...

No offense to you or Sony but.... Hack it ... who the hell cares? If we played by Sony's rules we would all pay for every time we turned our machines on.

Re: Digital Copies on PSP?

It's very easy to convert any DVD to play on a PSP, so you don't have to concentrate on only the digital copies. (And yes, the picture is small, but I find it great for plane travel.)

On the other hand, it did try out one digital copy. If I remember correctly, I loaded it into iTunes, which automatically did a conversion, and then I could just load it on the PSP. So if you are using iTunes you can give that a try.

Thanks. Guess I'll give iTunes a try then.

And oh, may I ask what software you (or anyone else) use to convert a regular DVD to a PSP compatible format?

Thanks again.

Re: Digital Copies on PSP?

I use DVD Shrink (the free version) and RaPiZ (also free). I think I'm behind the technology curve, but I have the steps down and it works for me.
