I recently purchased my first HDTV. I am new to A/V and ignorantly believed everything was compatible. I learned about VESA standards the hard way when I had to return the Vizio I initially purchased because the mounting holes would not work with the universal ceiling mount I had already bought and installed. I exchanged the Vizio for a SANYO DP32648 32" LCD HDTV w/
Digital Tuner (http://www.sanyotv.com/DP26_32648% 20Owners%20Manual.pdf). After reading some online reviews, I also ordered a Samsung DVD-V9800 DVD/VCR Combo (http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/co...V9800_XAA.pdf). After that purchase, I only had about $100 remaining in my budget. So, I picked up a used Onkyo GXW - 5.1 digital theater station for $20 and a YAMAHA HTR-5250 Natural Sound Home Theater Receiver (http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/pdf/...e/HTR-5250.pdf) for $25 (missing a volume knob, replacement already ordered), but I am unsure if an A/V receiver can be used with the Onkyo GXW - 5.1

I have no idea how to connect anything to my COMCAST Motorola DCT3400 High-Definition DVR Set-Top Box to receive 5.1 surround sound.

PLEASE O WISE AND SAGE AUDIOPHILES, understand I only have enough money remaining for cables and adaptors if needed. I NEED TO MAKE THIS WORK.. I really don't understand the connections (http://www.whydoesmyhometheatersuck.com/speaker.html) and appeal to you for help CONNECTING WHAT I HAVE. I am receiving disability so more expensive solutions are not an option at this time.

So, to summarize, this is what I now have:

SANYO DP32648 32" LCD HDTV
Samsung DVD-V9800 DVD/VCR Combo
Onkyo GXW - 5.1 digital theater station
YAMAHA HTR-5250 Natural Sound Home Theater Receiver

COMCAST Motorola DCT3400 High-Definition DVR Set-Top Box

PLEASE HELP ME MAKE IT WORK.
