Toughest & Coolest fictional movie characters...

Who do you think is the toughest and/or coolest movie character?

My choice Russell Crowe as General Maximus in Gladiator. Just for the scene when he wins the first gladiator fight in Rome. And announces who he is to the emporer and then the gladiators chanting his name when he goes back below. Also, the other gladiators surrounding him like when he was a general.

Re: Toughest & Coolest fictional movie characters...

Gotta cast my vote for Vasques (Jenette Goldstein), the tough talking smart-gun operator in Aliens. Takes point on the operation, and even beat an alien in close combat. (In the air duct pinning the beast to the wall with her boot and blowing his brains out point blank) She impressed me even more than Ripley, who would go on any short list of tough characters.

Gotta add another lady to the sweepstakes: Sarah Connor in Terminator 2:Judgement Day. Hard as nails, takes no prisoners.

I've gotta go with Ripley.

How about John Mclane. Yippee-ki-yay...you know the rest.

Re: Toughest & Coolest fictional movie characters...

Uma Thurman's character in "Kill Bill' is one tough cookie. But I still would have to go with Ripley as the biggest, badest, woman.

As for guys, John Mclane is way up there in the bad to the bone group and I have to give a nod to "Hellboy". He takes a lickin and keeps on tickin.

Is it fair to compare a fantasy character to a "real" character like John Mclane. Of course, I'm laughing as I write this. John Mclane is real...yeah...right!

How about Curly, from City Slickers, he scared me.

Those guys and gals are all weak sauce.

This is one of those questions that has a right answer, and a lot of wrong answers.

Beat this:

Feel free to skip ahead to 6:45.

Chingachgook

Game, set, and match.

You know the winner will come from a Michael Mann movie!

Re: Toughest & Coolest fictional movie characters...

Yea, I thought Uma Thurman in Kill Bill was pretty bad ass. Clint Eastwood in his heyday was not one to be messed with and I would say Marlon Brando in the Godfather.

Batman,

Because every single person on this forum would be him tomorrow. Billionaire playboy by day and bad ass with cool gadgets by night. Even Bond wants to be Batman.

i see you your chingachgook, and raise you one:

neil mccauley.

still - i think it's a photo-finish....

(each of them figures in what are for my money two of the best action-sequences ever filmed: the gunfight in heat, and the final chase from last of the mohicans. that michael mann sure knows his way around an action set-piece...)

Re: Toughest & Coolest fictional movie characters...

I've always liked Neil McCauley's coolness, and Vasques has always been a favorite.

However.

I'm sure nobody will second this one, but I think the baddest badass in movie history is Mona Demarkov (Lena Olin) in Romero is Bleeding.

Re: Toughest & Coolest fictional movie characters...

I'll assume that you guys are talking about the second toughest or coolest fictional movie character since nobody has mentioned Chuck Norris yet.

Now, I know some of you are thinking "yeah, but he's not fictional - he's real", which may be true, but I think that's more of a legend than established fact because he moves so fast nobody really gets a good look at him, and anybody that encounters him ends up in the hospital within seconds so they're not sure who it was. Until someone can prove that he really exists, I'm going to nominate him for toughest fictional movie character.

Seriously though, I would nominate Jason Bourne. He's even tougher and cooler in the books, but was pretty bad ass in the movies.
