Star Wars: The Clone Wars- Season One - Page 7

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars- Season One

Except it will have more Obi. I don't like how the character is written and the voice annoys me too.

I enjoyed the "lemur" eps. Liked the funny sequence when the "volunteer" battle droids were selected and how they all cheered when the weapon test was successful.

That space battle sequence from part 1 was killer. We'll definitely be getting the blu-rays.

jars jars abrupt mid episode voiceover change was the only annoying part.

Unsurprisingly, the show has been picked up for a second season that will air in the fall. So with the S1 finale running on March 20, there will a long wait for new episodes.

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars- Season One

Another very good ep in the books. Ventress is a welcome addition to any episode and one of the chief attractions for me is how the Republic often suffers setbacks, their plans don't work, they are betrayed from within, etc.

I'm going to miss this show which is something I never would have thought based on just the Clone Wars movie last August.

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars- Season One

An interesting episode last Friday. We see a "brother" (clone) act against his programming. I still like my theory that I mentioned earlier. That it would be cool that some clones would ignore Order 66 and help the Jedi escape. I know in ROTS. Cody orders his troops to fire on Obi. It would have been interesting to see that either Cody had missed on purpose to allow his old war buddy to escape.

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars- Season One

Not surprised, but glad to see the show picked up for another season. The first season has been quite good, and overall, very consistent. Really liked this week's episode and the one before that on the snow planet with those creatures - one of which was seen in the original Star Wars' cantina sequence.

Did I see a commercial about TNT picking the Clone Wars up soon? I caught the tail end of it and wasn't sure if that is what I saw.

ummm didn't lucasfilm set out to create 100 episodes total? if so, isn't it all set in stone?

Was that "100 episode thing" for The Clone Wars, or was it for the live-action show?

Yeah, according to their schedule there's two episodes on this Saturday at 11 PM and it's regular time slot is Wednesday at 10 PM and they play two episodes. Rather odd times for a show aimed at kids.

Yes but they've only finished about 40 episodes so far. If no one wanted to run them on their network (which is incredibly unlikely), they'd probably wouldn't make all 100 episodes.

EDIT: Here's a link to a commercial for the next three episodes. It was played at the New York Comic Con last weekend and it looks pretty darn cool.

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars- Season One

TNT, huh? Hmm. That means it'll play on their HD channel. I wonder if it'll be in HD or just stretched. I'll watch again if the former.

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars- Season One

Just an FYI to those that DVR the show (like me):

At the end of last week's episode, the preview for this week's announced that it would be two episodes aired back-to-back (in other words, an hour of Clone Wars instead of the usual half-hour). However, my cable box is still showing only a half hour listing for the program, with something else following at 9:30. If you'd like to be on the safe side, consider changing the end time on your DVR to give it an extra half hour.

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars- Season One

In the episode where they showed Naboo, that's the first time I was underwhelmed by the rendering, as we've had some pretty notable visuals in the live action movies to compare it to. I know it's a weekly animated show, but it jumped out at me nonetheless. Normally, we're in places we haven't seen before, so I've always just accepted whatever was on the screen.

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars- Season One

I enjoyed the double-shot on Friday. Two very good episodes back to back. Jar Jar was annoying (what else is new?) but loved the moment at the end of the second when Cody (?) said there was no way he was training him.

The visuals on the show are always top notch. Looking forward to seeing this on Blu-Ray.

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars- Season One

It's Rex. He is the main clone commander here and I bet he won't go along with 66 like Cody did.

Jar Jar's idiocy is harder to take with the new voice actor.

I liked the Full Throttle planet and the music heard there.

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars- Season One

how many eps has it been 2.35? no1 talked about this change? it's quite interesting =P.

do u think they'll expand it to 1.78 when it is released on home video?

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars- Season One

To the best of my knowledge, the AR has always been 2.35 but it's only been aired on Cartoon Network at 1.78. Since all the clips on starwars.com have been 2.35, I expect the DVD and Blu-ray seasons to be 2.35 too.

EDIT: I don't have Cartoon Network in HD so maybe things are different there but the SD feed has always been 1.78.

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars- Season One

The guy playing Palpy wasn't very close to Ian, but it was all pretty good just the same. Even though we all know that he has the power to have done something, I'm guessing he will never be shown using his powers when not Sidious--even when no one is around. Long wait until the fall, though I won't miss the constant DVR conflicts this show has caused.

I think that's true for almost all of the characters but what's weird is that the only time it ever bothered me is with Jar Jar. I guess his voice is so specific that anything but Ahmed Best won't cut it for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed the season and I'm looking forward to S2!

After her intro/cameo in The Phantom Menace, I remember reading the craziest rumors about that character in 2000 or 2001. "She's going to turn out to be Boba Fett!", "She's going to be a main villain in Episode II!", "She's going to turn out to be the mother of Luke and Leia!", etc. And she never did anything more than pop up in a couple issues of various SW comic books.

While the internet is full of wacky rumors, it's just funny that a boatload of them popped up around a character who did absolutely nothing.

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars- Season One

meh, there is not consistent theme through the entire season, just a collection of shorts =P.

the 2D "clone wars" had much better cohesiveness.

I liked that the shows were almost all self contained. There's a million stories in the naked galaxy and this is one...

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars- Season One

I'm guessing that TNT stopped airing The Clone Wars since my DVR hasn't recorded it in almost a month.

yeah really strange.
it only aired for 2 weeks.

Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars- Season One

I hope this is not a sign of what is to come. From a DVDTalk review of Star Wars: The Clone Wars - A Galaxy Divided:

"It's 2009 and this is a "Star Wars release", yet Warner/Lucasfilm has decided to take several steps backwards in terms of the video presentation on this release. While the colors are vibrant and animation is top notch, the DVD presentation is 1.85:1 Non-Anamorphic Widescreen. Even more frustrating, the show has been cropped from its original 2.35:1 aspect ratio. I understand the show is broadcast cropped, but the DVD should be the correct time to release the episodes in their original format. I didn't notice any technical problems with the transfer though and feel the series would be visually stunning in an unmodified format. ."

Ugh.
