Cool that it's postage-paid.
It comes with a perforated postcard that you fill out (name/address), detach and mail with dvd (as BrettB just posted above). It looks like it's a pretty tight fight for a dvd with the case. Be sure to read the fine print: It advises you to photocopy ALL materials submitted for your records. If you don't see this envelope in any of the store aisle, definitely ask for it.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-7-2008

Ah %$#% me I have to head back to Best Buy!

Darned CSRs, cashiers, etc. didn't know what the heck I was talking about. Teaches me to ask for a manager every time, from now on!

I didn't realize that. All of the ones here in the Denver area tend to get the same things at the same time. Someone in the software forum said that they found all of the Hitchcocks and Touch of Evil for 16.99 each, so I'm going to give it a shot.

(Of course, I prefer the non-Krusty packaging for storage reasons.) After talking to the managers, they still won't budge on the $39.99, since the Krusty Head is shown on the flyer and not the non-Krusty Head. They said I should be happy with the Krusty Head since it looks better anyway.

I also noticed that they had the "non-limited" packaging marked at $39.99, at least on the tag. But check it out: Unlike the past several season boxes, the "limited Krusty head" packaging is just a sort of plastic-type placard thing glued to the standard box, and then with the clear plastic thing around that. I too prefer the "standard" normal box, but it appeared upon looking at both versions that one could take the "limited" version and just take the Krusty head/cover off and have the "standard" version. I took a chance and bought the limited version, hoping that the Krusty head would not be glued down too tightly (I could see that the standard cover was underneath it). Luckily, when I got the set home, I found that they glued the Krusty head to the front with the same sort of rubbery, clear stuff that they use to glue the back sheet to the box. So the Krusty head came off in a few seconds without any problem.

So basically, go ahead and buy the limited Krusty head version, peel the "limited" elements off, and you'll have the standard version plus a loose Krusty head to do, well, I don't know what with!

As far as I can tell, once you peel the front head thing off, the set is literally identical to the "standard" version (probably cost cutting from the studio so they can use the same elements for both versions).

The only downside is that the standard box, whether on its own or extracted from the limited version, technically does not "match" the other sets because it is much more slim (even more slim than season one). But the seasons haven't been uniformly sized anyway. Season 1 was thin, then season 2-5 were thicker, then season 6-10 were thinner again (but still thicker than the first season), while season 11 is the most slim to date. I don't even mind the size difference, but the way the discs are packaged is pretty lousy (just a cardboard fold out with the discs tucked in between cardboard.

I see that Amazon has lowered the price of this set to $16.99. Not sure if it's a temporary reduction. I was going to wait until DDD's 20% sale for this but, at this price, I ordered it.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-7-2008

I picked up Sleeping Beauty and have the Simpsons Season 11 on order from Amazon. I was going to buy Mission: Impossible- Season 5 but Wal-mart didn't carry it, as well as some other titles I was interested in,though they did stock some of the earlier Seasons.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-7-2008

At this rate I'm just going to wait for the eventual complete Stooges collection, which might have extra goodies in it. I was worried that I'd have to wait forever, but it looks to be not too far off!

Good times.

Oy! That's a bummer if one really wants the Krusty head packaging since, in my experiences, the back sheet always seems to fall off the back of the last several set boxes a few seconds after taking off the shrink wrap. I just went ahead and bought it at Target last night. With my luck, I'm sure I would've bought the one Krusty head that had been applied to the box with Super Glue™.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 10-7-2008

The envelope for Sleeping Beauty is pretty limited for directions. What would stop you from including a Disc 2 from any past Disney DVDs? I appreciate that they gave me a standard copy of it with the Blu Ray -- send that, and the $26 Sleeping Beauty Blu Ray is suddenly $16. Nice!
