Cool that it's postage-paid. |

(Of course, I prefer the non-Krusty packaging for storage reasons.) After talking to the managers, they still won't budge on the $39.99, since the Krusty Head is shown on the flyer and not the non-Krusty Head. They said I should be happy with the Krusty Head since it looks better anyway.

But check it out: Unlike the past several season boxes, the "limited Krusty head" packaging is just a sort of plastic-type placard thing glued to the standard box, and then with the clear plastic thing around that. I too prefer the "standard" normal box, but it appeared upon looking at both versions that one could take the "limited" version and just take the Krusty head/cover off and have the "standard" version. I took a chance and bought the limited version, hoping that the Krusty head would not be glued down too tightly (I could see that the standard cover was underneath it). Luckily, when I got the set home, I found that they glued the Krusty head to the front with the same sort of rubbery, clear stuff that they use to glue the back sheet to the box. So the Krusty head came off in a few seconds without any problem.
So basically, go ahead and buy the limited Krusty head version, peel the "limited" elements off, and you'll have the standard version plus a loose Krusty head to do, well, I don't know what with! As far as I can tell, once you peel the front head thing off, the set is literally identical to the "standard" version (probably cost cutting from the studio so they can use the same elements for both versions). The only downside is that the standard box, whether on its own or extracted from the limited version, technically does not "match" the other sets because it is much more slim (even more slim than season one). But the seasons haven't been uniformly sized anyway. Season 1 was thin, then season 2-5 were thicker, then season 6-10 were thinner again (but still thicker than the first season), while season 11 is the most slim to date. I don't even mind the size difference, but the way the discs are packaged is pretty lousy (just a cardboard fold out with the discs tucked in between cardboard. |
