So Hi-Def Digest is reporting a January release:

MGM Planning 'Spinal Tap' Blu-ray | High-Def Digest

This is one of those "how are they going to handle the grain?" Blu-Ray announcements I have been thinking about. I for one wouldn't mind the "Life of Brian" treatment as long as we also get the Godfather-esque, film-accurate subtitling!

I'm afraid we'll probably have to suffer with mere Robocop quality, though.

If they can go back to the original 16mm elements and not go DNR crazy, this should be fun. Sex Farm in DTS-HD MA? The mind reels at the possibilities.....

They can do so much with this title. In addition to the Criterion supplements and any additional deleted footage and concert performances, they could also package it in black.

I just hope we get the burned-in subtitles this time.
