16:9 Screen but wider movie..

Hey all, planning on getting an Epson Pro Cinima 1080 UB projector and screen.

The screen is going to be 16:9, my question is concerning what happens when the movie is in a wider format. I believe there will be "black bars" above and below the screen, however, since it is a screen and the screen is white will the bars be white and quite distracting?

Any ideas to avoid if it is?

Thanks

Re: 16:9 Screen but wider movie..

As you view the movie, the unused parts of the screen above and below will appear just as dark as the darkest shadows and content in the movie picture itself. If your room is fully darkened (except for the projected picture) and the walls and ceiling are dark in color (and your projector is not an early LCD model with limited contrast ratio), this will appear nearly black.

You might be able to expand the picture (greater than 16:9) to better fill the screen but then the sides of the picture will go off the sides of the screen, something you don't want.
