Re: Godfather Blu-ray Confirmed

I sent an email using the link in the pop up from the links provided
a few posts back and received a reply stating that avs has no blocks
or issues with HTF.

Re: Godfather Blu-ray Confirmed

Tony,

That response you were sent is not true.

Links from AVS back to our forum that were merely referencing
additional information were removed by the Moderating team. We
saw this being done first-hand. We tried emailing David Bott who
declined to answer our inquiries about this practice.

Most all the websites within our small community work together to
reference information between our forums as long as there are
no blatant promoting attempts to steal readers.

It came as a huge shock to us that AVS would make the decision
to remove links posted by their members back to HTF where additional
information related to a particular question could be found. We have
certainly allowed such links back to AVS and other sites over the years
as we have felt that our readers should have the freedom to reference
additional material that relates to their interests.

It's discouraging to us and our members when we have to now block
links to AVS from this forum. Trust me, it was a last resort after
attempting to reach out to David Bott and not receiving a response.
It is our hope that we can work out these issues so we can continue
allowing information to flow between our two sites.

Those who are interested, please continue letting AVS know how
you feel.

Re: Godfather Blu-ray Confirmed

Tony:

It isn't that the post had the link blocked it was that the post had the link removed and replaced with a warning that external links are not allowed. I emailed David a couple times on this matter and had no response from him on this.

We would more than happy to continue the practice of allowing links to AVS if the same can be done for us in return. That would mean leaving the link as it stands and not modifying it or deleting it.

Links from AVS to HTF work fine, so I don't what's the issue here. For instance:

1. Go to AVS Forum > Blu-ray & HD DVD Areas > Blu-ray Software
2. Go to thread entitled "The Godfather Trilogy to Blu-ray September 23, 2008"
3. Got to page 12, post #358.

That's my link to this thread, and it works perfectly.

Linkage to HTF works when I posted a link in my Godfather thread at AVS

Re: Godfather Blu-ray Confirmed

Is the blocking automatic (via some sort of script or some such) or done manually by the moderators? If it's manual, then maybe they just haven't gotten around to blocking those yet. I have no idea myself as I rarely check AVS due to the excessively high noise level there.

There you go...... Another thing, perhaps AVS has reconsidered their position in this matter after it's been brought to the attention of both memberships. Hopefully, this can be resolve for everybodys benefit.

Not only that, there is also a link at AVS to RAH's comments here about The Godfather that works perfectly.
