How I Met Your Mother - season 4 - Page 4

Re: How I Met Your Mother - season 4

I don't know what it is, but I'm just not enjoying this show like I did when I first started watching. Last nights episode was sort of funny, but I didn't laugh out loud like I use to with the jokes. barney still cracks me up, but I just don't have that " oooh HIMYM is on " feeling.

I personally feel the show is perhaps funnier than ever, this season, albeit with a little more "grown-up" edge to it.

I was amused how Barney and Ted's fighting turned Robin on!

Yep.

I'm a timid guy who's only been in one fight in my lifetime but if I knew that's what it took to turn Robin on i'd be beating up everyone in sight.

Re: How I Met Your Mother - season 4

FYI - Was just watching the first season on DVD. For those who care, here is the exactly dialogue from the end of the pilot:

Ted: "...because that kids, is the true story of how I met your Aunt Robin."

Son: "Aunt Robin?"

Daughter: "We thought this was how you met mom!"

Ted: "Will you relax? I'm getting to that. Like I said, it's a long story."

Notable also is the fact that Robin's name is never mentioned or heard in the episode until Ted's voice over at the end, which is why the kids don't realize who he was talking about while he's tellling the story.

Regards,

Joe

I'm with you. I oftentimes don't even remember the plot as I am discussing the show with friends. It's become... unmemorable.
On a typical Monday, Worst Week and Big Bang Theory are funnier and more memorable, and every other week Two and Men is as well. HIMYM used to be the funniest show on Monday be a mile. It feels like the funny well the writers drank from has run dry.

Re: How I Met Your Mother - season 4

really disliked this week's episode. i HATE when sitcoms use the cheap gimmick of creating a character trait out of thin air just to service a plot. i know sitcoms are contrived by definition but that shortcut is just so, so lame (anyways i'm talking about Lily's not-keeping-a-secret thing). also the whole plan of making Ted think Barney had sex with her sister his stupid. what was he supposed to think?!? if anything it just proved that his sister was immature for setting him up. it's not jumping to conclusions when you're completely pushed from behind

Re: How I Met Your Mother - season 4

The episode was terrible. It was redeemed at the end by Marshall karaoking to "Let's Go to the Mall."

Re: How I Met Your Mother - season 4

I liked it. But then again, as a Canadian, I love it when they make fun of Canada.

I'll post more later -- it's getting dark and I have to turn on all the lights.

Well, he did send Lily to spy on them. So I wouldn't say he was pushed from behind.

Re: How I Met Your Mother - season 4

I really liked this episode. Although it was about Barney and Ted's sister, Robin got loads of screen time! It doesn't happen enough to satisfy me.

Re: How I Met Your Mother - season 4

I liked it. HIMYM has never really been that much of a "laugh out loud" show for me, in the way that the two Chuck Lorre shows tend to be. (And Worst Week has never been for me - or apparently a lot of other people.) I get a lot of warm chuckles and a few big laughs a week out of it, which is more in keeping with the "feel" of the show, which is much gentler and a bit slower paced. So I liked the episode just fine. (I just found myself wishing that Marshall hailed from Hawaii or Florida and hung out in a bar where there was sand and palm trees and everyone dressed in bathing suits. )

Regards,

Joe

Re: How I Met Your Mother - season 4

I liked Barney's songs at the beginning but otherwise it was a pretty blah episode. I also hate the lazy "introduce a new character trait to a character the audience and every character on the show has known for years" thing.

Re: How I Met Your Mother - season 4

The funniest part of the episode was Robin testing to see if they were really Canadians at 'the Hoser Hut'. Bumping into the guy and him saying sorry was both a cliche and right on the button.

Is a Cliche a Cliche if it is the truth?

Some cliches get to be cliches because they're the truth.

I about fell out of my seat when I saw Lilly (Alyson Hannigan) sitting on the airplane with the "Wig Lady" from the Doublemeat Palace episode of Buffy. LOL

"Oh dear, is that what they call me?"

I noticed her rack was larger, and then noticed a baby-bump-to-be.

I was paying attention to the short jean shorts and tight tank top she was wearing.

I didn't see the location mix up coming at all.

It wasn't a location mix up. The days are what got mixed up.

Great show. Not quite as good as Big Bang but still good. Is this supposed to be the last season?

Re: How I Met Your Mother - season 4

This was by far one of the finniest episodes yet. The whole interaction with Barney and Marshall about the night gown was hysterical! I also wish I knew what Robin was saying during her show, although just watching her was funny enough. I kept rewinding just to see her put that guys arm out and watch her deliver a baby! So funny!

Re: How I Met Your Mother - season 4

If they can keep up this quality for the rest of the season, I'd say the show is back to form. Easily the best of a mostly disappointing season.

For the rest of the season? You can't handle the rest of the season!

Re: How I Met Your Mother - season 4

Great episode even though I think that what Lily was doing to Ted was monumentally out of line and remarkably mean, almost unforgivable really.

Loved the nod to The Big Lebowski with the flying.
