Big Bang Theory - season 2 - Page 2

Re: Big Bang Theory - season 2

Thank-you Hammer and Scott.
I remember now.

That whole explanation of the cat on Wiki made my head hurt.

Re: Big Bang Theory - season 2

I love this show ...

Leonard: Sheldon, don't make that noise, it's disrespectful.

Sheldon: I should hope so, it was a snort of derision!

I'm either very tired or missed what the joke was.

Well, you have to know what "Schrödinger's cat" is for there to be a joke - and not everyone does.

Basically it is a thought experiment devised by Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger in the 1930s to illustrate some of the odder implications of quantum theory. He came up with it during an exchange of letters with Einstein and others. Modern quantum theories are still interpretted and compared based on how they deal with this famous feline.

Obviously both the joke and the sweetness of the moment derive from Penny's even trying to explain The Cat to her boyfriend. It shows how much of the guys has rubbed off on her, even if only through osmosis, and also that maybe she's smarter than they (and we) give her credit for.

Joe

Re: Big Bang Theory - season 2

I actually never thought of Penny as being dumb, she happens to live across the hall from two geniuses and any average person with average intelligence would seem like Forrest Gump by comparison lol.

It was quite the sweet moment to hear her try to explain the theory, though.

Re: Big Bang Theory - season 2

Small nitpick:

Sheldon mentions that putting "Ye Olde" in front of something doesn't make it period authentic (or thereabouts). He pronounces it "Yee Old".

But it's not a letter Y, it's the thorn character. So it would be pronounced "The Old".

Hey, if you're going to be hyper-accurate...

Re: Big Bang Theory - season 2

But in Sheldon's defense he gave no indication that he didn't know that information, he was merely pointing out that at these festivals they put 'Ye Olde' in front of things which they do.

Just because he didn't verbalize the correction doesn't mean he didn't know it, he just didn't say it.

Re: Big Bang Theory - season 2

He appeared to be an expert in all things from that period (including how to create linen underpants). So you'd think he'd know better.

But, for the joke to work, he had to say "yee." It succeeded because of its brevity. Elongating it into an expansion on the mispronunciation of the character "Y" would have drawn on the bit longer than it needed to keep the story itself moving forward. For what it is worth.

I did get a kick out of hearing Penny try to explain Schrodinger's cat to her boyfriend. LOL Bless her heart, at least she is trying.
Second episode was better than the first. I loved it; especially Penny (failing) to explain S's cat to her date.

I also like how the romantic tension is handled between Penny & Sheldon. It looks to be a great season

I agree that these two characters are a great pairing as they are becoming friends, or I should say as Penny goes to Sheldon for insights on Leonard.

Re: Big Bang Theory - season 2

Jim Parsons was on Craig Ferguson last night...

I had never seen him outside of Sheldon so I was dying of curiosity to see how he was in real life lol.

Re: Big Bang Theory - season 2

He seems just like his character. LOL

Re: Big Bang Theory - season 2

Loved the Three's Company-style misunderstanding moment with Leonard outside of Sheldon's door.

Sheldon was actually quite sweet towards Penny in this episode...up until he tired of her lol. During all of his plots to get rid of her I was thinking "Yeah, you have a hot blonde showing you all sorts of attention...you MUST put a stop to that!".

Sheldon is so lovably clueless that he transcends any negativity and it makes everything he does seem oddly charming.

BTW, how much you wanna bet that Sheldon eventually ends up with Leslie? They just have that rivalry going on that's dripping with repressed sexual tension between them lol.

Re: Big Bang Theory - season 2

I never thought I would say this but Penny looked disgusting at he end. LOL

Also, that speaker trick was really cool. I must find out more.

Re: Big Bang Theory - season 2

Yes but even Penny disgusting was cute.

That speaker trick was very cool, it looked like Flubber lol.

Re: Big Bang Theory - season 2

That thing with the speaker was awesome! Flubber is the perfect description.

I was dying when Sheldon was cluelessly making a sex date with the guy in the lunch room.

Re: Big Bang Theory - season 2

Mix corn starch with water to make the "non newtonian fluid" -- we made that in college, but didn't know about the speaker trick. It's a fluid until you stir it and then it dramatically solidifies. If you've got kids, you've got to show them!

(yeah, good episode, too!)

Re: Big Bang Theory - season 2

Wow! Jim Parsons IS Sheldon Cooper! LOL

I really enjoyed this episode tonight...Penny's breakdown at the first was hysterical...and HOT!! Man, she wears the skimpiest clothes!

I also liked that her inner-nerd was let loose.

And it so happens that Sheldon does indeed have a Facebook account But headoverheelz.com doesn't work LOL

Rocketing up the charts to be my new favorite show... I just can't wait to hear what Sheldon says next.

Probably the best scene on the show so far.

But will the "real" Sheldon Cooper please stand up? I found something like five Sheldons on Facebook.

Re: Big Bang Theory - season 2

I thought it was pretty funny, especially Penny being obsessed with the MPORPG. Sheldon trying to comfort her at the beginning and then trying to stay away from her was hilarious. In fact, Jim Parsons was on fire tonight.

The part where the guys were standing around watching the liquid become a solid was great, especially when Leonard said that Penny need to get a life and then he turns around and puts the stereo back on so that the four of them can stand there and keep watching the transformation.

Diving into the shallow end, Kaley Cuoco =

Penny needs to wear her yellow top once an episode.

Solid episode. I've lost friends to online video gaming.

Caught this episode while waiting for How I Met Your Mother to start and I was rolling in laughter. Can't believe I never knew this show existed before. Nice to see Sara Gilbert and Johnny Gilecki (sp?) together again.

Might just be recording this show as well.

Laurie Metcalf (Jackie on Roseanne) has also appeared as Sheldon's mother.

I'm sorry but even when she was all messed up with Cheetos in her hair she was still hot.

Welcome aboard, Lucia.

Re: Big Bang Theory - season 2

Sheldor the conquer!

Penny: "I looked too Midwest for the part. What the hell does that even mean?"
Sheldon: "Well the American Midwest was mostly settled by Scandinavian and Germanic people...they have a characteristic bone structure."

Penny slouched down and crying
Sheldon: "There...there."

Speaking of Leslie and Sheldon maybe getting together in the future.
I think it would be funny in a future episode that Leslie has a sex dream about Sheldon.

I liked video game nerd Penny.
Hanging around Sheldon and Leonard is slowly getting Penny to act like or becoming one of them.

Re: Big Bang Theory - season 2

OMG! Sheldon creeped me out in last nights episode! he was funny as hell, but creeeeeeepy! Mission accomplished.

I can't believe how funny this show is. I laughed my A$$ off the entire show.

I love how Sheldon says the most random things. I also love the guy who plays "Moist" in Dr Horrible's Sing A Long Blog.

Okay I admit it, I am hooked!
