Smallville season 8 thread - Page 2

Re: Smallville season 8 thread

At this rate, we should have Clark in the suit no later than November sweeps.

In other news, we're back to the meteor freak of the week. I thought we had gotten WAY past that by now. (And, for the sake of argument, if the story requires a meteor freak, why not use someone we've seen previously instead of brand new people?)

And maybe it was just me, but I really liked the Chloe/Clark talk at the end. It felt real to me. Moreover, these two eps feel like set up for a last season sort of deal. Get Clark to be Superman. Put Chloe and Jimmy in a position to exit stage left. Form the JLA. Move Clark and Lois together.

Re: Smallville season 8 thread

While it was a meteor freak of the week episode, at least they are eluding to a longer prospective in Mercer's corraling of them, so a quasi-standalone episode. Are there still phone booths anywhere anymore? Too funny when Lois shoves Clark into one. Chloe's been acting really weird, must be something about running the Isis foundation. Looks like Davis likes to sleep on the streets.

It looks to be doing precisely that.

I ate up last nights episode, finally we're getting to the good stuff, Clark and Lois working together, Clark off the farm and taking care of things in Metropolis, also i'm noticing that Clark is acting a little more mature this season so far, maybe it was the farm that was holding him back.

Here's what's really surprising me, though...i'm not missing Michael Rosenbaum so far!

And Davis was doing more than sleeping in that alley, what was up with his face?

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
First indications he is Doomsday, with the bones protruding from his body and such?

Re: Smallville season 8 thread

^^Ohhhhh! Sweet.

I forgot to mention Erica Durance and how wll she's slipping into the Lois role. Up until this season she was Lois in name only but now she's starting to look, act and flirt like the classic Lois we all know and love.

EDIT:

Maybe i'm seeing things that aren't there but i'm rewatching the episode now and Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
the guys name is Davis Bloom which if you break it apart is 'Da' 'oom', take away the 'a' and you've got 'Doom'.

Re: Smallville season 8 thread

I never found Lois particularly attractive, but she's been looking liking a lit bundle of dynamite the last two episodes.

Re: Smallville season 8 thread

Tess was telling Beth the firestarter, that she could join a team, people like her.
Maybe the Legion of Doom?

I liked this episode, even though it seemed like a meteor freak of the week.
It feels that the show is finally moving to the point where it needs to be.
and I love the long shot of where we saw Clark and Lois sitting at their desks with the name plates showing.

But I did cringe at the line Lois said to Clark
"Oh my God, my cousin is babysitting Psycho Spice."

Also with this episode being titled Plastique, you think it would be an intro to Plastic-Man.
I'm sure there are other single word name they could have given this episode that has to do with fire.

Plastique is the name of a female villain in the comics.

On a side note. How do we really know Bette is a meteor freak? She overheard Chloe talking about them. And maybe she used the rock theory to frame her friend.

Re: Smallville season 8 thread

Don't forget that she tried to blast Chloe and was stymied by Clark.

I liked the Psycho Spice line, though it is a decade out of date.

Also, somebody mentioned it being a bit too convenient for their to be a telephone booth (too lazy to go back and look), but it fits in the kind of art deco Planet that was pretty much carried over from Returns--the only bit of Returns I really liked. I'm not sure the poster was even saying it was too convenient, or just commenting about the death of the telephone booth in real life. I should get up the energy to click back a page.

Was I the only one thinking that Lois Lane should be the last one anybody turns to for proofreading?

eh, her nose bridge looks too wide for her eyes now, she looks funny, maybe needs a further adjustment.

As she was talking about injustice, I was thinking Injustice League

Re: Smallville season 8 thread

It's weird seeing Clark in a suit after all those years of jeans and flannel.

Chloe's turning into a Brainiac has to be a bit freaky for anyone who knows her special abilities.

Not quite sure I like how they are shoe-horning Davis into the orbit of Clark's circle of friends.

Small world that Tess and Oliver would end up on the same island that was instrumental in pushing Oliver into becoming an expert archer and survivalist. Almost too convenient, though.

Re: Smallville season 8 thread

Chloe's Brainiacing will probably turn sinister given that this is Smallville, but it could just be the way this version of the DC universe gained an Oracle.

I don't find Tess and Oliver being together on the island too convenient, since it's whatever happened after the island that set her on her current path.

Toxic

Dullsville.
Very bored by this episode.
I wish I had something more to say about this epsiode, but I don't.

Re: Smallville season 8 thread

I am annoyed I missed the first 25minutes. I did like how Tess was called Mercy. A nice nod to the comics.

Re: Smallville season 8 thread

In the immortal words of Ralph Kramden "Hummina hummina hummina...Maxima!" Okay, so he didn't say Maxima but my lord (bites knuckles on his clenched fist)!

This season is like hot women palooza, we've got Tess, her hot assistant, Lois, Chloe and now this uber-hottie bent on laying a big ol' smacker on Clark lol.

It's now official that Tess has taken over for Lex, she was knocked down and thrown across the floor of his office.

Re: Smallville season 8 thread

Instinct

Even though there was eye candy and lots of hints at the whole Lois & Clark future love/relationship. I just didn't like this episode.

and who is this mysterious red x emailer that has the blue crystal and is telling Tess that she's not ready yet?

Re: Smallville season 8 thread

Okay, enough. We get how cute and coy the writers are trying to be by dropping references to the future. Tess and the coming big baddie and the return of the JL and the Lois/Clark thing and now a return to really boring crystal-based stories. Good lord, someone cry uncle for crying out loud already.

Quite frankly, the X mailer can only be one of a couple different people: Lex, Lana, Chloe, Lionel or Virgil Swann. My best bet is that Michael Rosenbaum is coming back for a guest appearance in the "near" future and they're setting it all up.

Smallville finally was able to tap the hot actress cast list from Supernatural.

Re: Smallville season 8 thread

This one kind of surprised me. I've always kind of liked Maxima in the comics, but this is probably the best she's been used in any medium. She's kind of a ridiculous character, after all, but Smallville actually found a way to make her interesting. And on top of that, they did a few things I liked with Tess - it's easy to forget that the whole idea of humanoid aliens running around the Earth is terrifying, considering how much the regulars take it for granted; I liked seeing her realize just what sort of craziness she's gotten herself into.

Of course, she doesn't quite fit in Smallville in some ways - her story is kind of the opposite of the destiny fetish this show has, isn't it?

Re: Smallville season 8 thread

A few good character moments but Maxima was a Dud.

Re: Smallville season 8 thread

I'm glad folks are enjoying the apparent babefest, but none of the female characters do anything for me except Chloe. She's the only female actor I enjoy watching on the show. As for her chemistry with Jimmy, I much preferred her with the paramedic, so my rejection of her with Jimmy isn't just that I wanted her with Clark.

Dear Smallville fans,

As news and rumors swirl around the development of The Graysons for the CW, we have every intention of letting you, our fans, be the first to know the reality. Never have we been so committed to the continuing success of Smallville as we are to seasons 8 and 9. While we are extremely excited to be working hand-in-hand with Wonderland, Warner Bros. and the CW to create the origin story of Dick Grayson, it has never been intended as a replacement for Smallville, as is speculated in some media. The cast, crew, writers and producers are all working full-steam ahead on a story-line for Clark that allows for seasons of further trials and adventures for our favorite hero. As always, we all have you to thank for achieving eight years of this amazing show that Al and Miles created, and we’re looking far beyond!

what're they? NUTS?

Re: Smallville season 8 thread

^ Smart, actually. If this is Smallville's last year (big if, considering the ratings), they're going to want something to go along with Supernatural. No current show does-maybe Repear, but CW is fumbling the ball on it.

If this isn't Smallville's last year, grooming a protege is not a bad idea, all things considered. Launch it after Smallville S9 and produce a two hour DC Comics block of programming.

As much as I enjoy Smallville they need to go out on top. They should be ending it this season.

Re: Smallville season 8 thread

i haven't read all previous posts yet, but this year's episodes have felt like "justice league lite" so far. somn hinted @last year, but really came out full force right now. they're still missing a lot of them, but what they now is still pretty nifty =P.

Re: Smallville season 8 thread

Geoff Johns is going to be writing a Legion of Superheroes episode. Hopefully that'll be cool.
