Re: When do Warner Home Video are trying to release more classic Hanna-Barbera Titles

Boy, I would love to see the final 35 shows of "Huckleberry Hound" make it to DVD; as well as Quick Draw McGraw, Peter Potamus, Yogi's Gang, Yogi's Treasure Hunt, Banana Splits and all of them that have been mentioned. I think for Huck there is a demand for it, but the sales have not been there.

Here's a link to the complete list of Hanna Barbera shows:

List of works produced by Hanna-Barbera - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quite a daunting list of shows to collect on DVD. WB has barely scratched the surface in releasing this stuff on DVD.

This is a good list. However, in the 1980's, I noticed that "Yogi Bear's All-Star Comedy Christmas Caper" and "Yogi's First Christmas" are missing from the specials list.

Also, I saw these three cartoons from the 1950's and I have never heard of them before. Does anyone know what these are:

Lally Kangaroo
Mr. Owl and Hoho Whale
Gloopy, Gloss & Gross Too!

Hey everybody! I was in Costco today in San Diego area! They have some Hanna-Barbera titles sale for $18.99 Huckelberry hound, Topcat, scooby-doo where are you season 1&2, season 3, scooby-doo movies, migilla gorilla, johnny quest, I don't know what other titles is included on sale, when I went to costco that section looks like it was getting picked bare, I don't know if the flintstones was included in this sale! so check out your local costco if they have Hanna-Barbera titles on sale in your area! as for me I didn't get any because due to the apt. complex where I work is being sold lets say I could be voted off the island no pun intended then I have to look for new job and I might miss the deepdiscount 20% sale I hope I can keep my job!

Re: When do Warner Home Video are trying to release more classic Hanna-Barbera Titles

I have the Scooby Doo Original set and the Dynomutt one and the season 3.

I'd love to get The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan, and Banana Splits if those were ever to be released. I remember fondly The Hair Bear Bunch. It was funny.

Re: When do Warner Home Video are trying to release more classic Hanna-Barbera Titles

I've purchased the vast majority of H-B material that Warner has put out, and I'd still be in for the following:

Abbott & Costello (don't know why it's missing in the wiki list)
The Herculoids
Shazzan
Fantastic Four
Banana Splits Adventure Hour
Adventures of Gulliver
New Adventures of Huck Finn
Harlem Globetrotters (original 1970 version)
Chan Clan
Valley of the Dinosaurs

Gary "those are the series that I'd definitely purchase today if they were available" O.

I'd definately buy the Abbott and Costello cartoon too. There must be some sort of rights issues involved with it though because its not even shown on Boomerang which has most of the Hanna Barbera catalog. In fact I haven't seen it shown on TV since the 70's.

The Abbott & Costello cartoon series was a joint production between Hanna-Barbera and R-K-O. (Kind of like the H-B Laurel & Hardy cartoons, which were done jointly by Larry Harmon and H-B, and ended up being owned by Harmon. Even though different entities are involved, the A&C cartoons have a similar style to the L&H.)

Anyway...in poking around on the internet, I stumbled upon a site that shows the A&C cartoons belonging to Warner Bros. Now, they were not part of the Hanna-Barbera library (I mean, H-B did not retain the rights to them). But somewhere along the way, the RKO stuff ended up going to Turner, WB bought out Turner and there you go. However...weren't Turner's rights to the RKO library domestic (US) only?

That may explain why these haven't shown up.

Re: When do Warner Home Video are trying to release more classic Hanna-Barbera Titles

What about the first season of Super Friends? I'm shocked no one has mentioned it on this thread! That and Speed Buggy are on the top of my list!

Re: When do Warner Home Video are trying to release more classic Hanna-Barbera Titles

Who knows why this stuff isn't out. The sales on previous collections couldn't have been that bad. Why can't they put out something like "Yogi's Gang" which features every character under the sun, and yet is chock full of "wholesome family values" for all those obnoxious parents' groups out there...

Re: When do Warner Home Video are trying to release more classic Hanna-Barbera Titles

And don't forget the Hanna-Barbera syndicated TV movies

Yogi's Great Escape
Top Cat and the Beverly Hill Cats
The Good, the bad and Huckleberry Hound

also, brand new Tom and Jerry direct-to-video films and
a new live-action/traditional animated Tom and Jerry film following the formula of the original 114 cartoon shorts.

Re: When do Warner Home Video are trying to release more classic Hanna-Barbera Titles

Another vote for Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan

Abbott & Costello would be neat also. Thanks to Mark for the explanation of the rights issues.

Re: When do Warner Home Video are trying to release more classic Hanna-Barbera Titles

The dearth of new and/or announced HB titles makes me think that Warners' thinks they've already tapped out the HB library. I wonder if sales haven't been that good the past year or two.

I'm starting to fear this now also. The announcement of later and lesser Hanna Barbera tiles like: New Johnny Quest and the 80's Jetson's episodes sounds as if they are about done with H-B since they are down to the Scrappy Doo of H-B titles now. I purchased all previous H-B titles but will not get these new releases. I hope its not true since there are so many great H-B titles yet to release but I fear this is the end of the line.

Re: When do Warner Home Video are trying to release more classic Hanna-Barbera Titles

Would like to see the Pirates of Dark Water on DVD. One of the last H-B cartoons not aimed specifically at kids.

Re: When do Warner Home Video are trying to release more classic Hanna-Barbera Titles

the big hold ups are quality of source material and that pesky Capital Music issue

Re: When do Warner Home Video are trying to release more classic Hanna-Barbera Titles

I just want QUICKDRAW MCGRAW !!!

Some Loopy De Loop shorts would be nice but not essential.

After that I don't really care... but The QUICKDRAW Show deserves a DVD release, especially when they're putting out all this other 70's slop!

Re: When do Warner Home Video are trying to release more classic Hanna-Barbera Titles

I agree, I want Quickdraw, and I don't care what shape it is in either.

Re: When do Warner Home Video are trying to release more classic Hanna-Barbera Titles

I would have thought with the success of the films, that the 60s animated Fantastic Four series would have been an obvious release - even as an "extra."

Does anyone know if this is a rights issue?

Re: When do Warner Home Video are trying to release more classic Hanna-Barbera Titles

I'd love to see BaBa Louie again.

Re: When do Warner Home Video are trying to release more classic Hanna-Barbera Titles

I really want

Sealab 2020
Harlem Globetrotters (original)
Jeannie (I know the rights issues holds this one up)
