House season 5 - Page 5

Re: House season 5

Oh no! Another 'cure' to be thrown away - this time in only one episode.

This one though was a 'shark jumper' for me. Come on...you're telling me he can't do the methodone because his amazing powers of observation and analysis are lost when he's 'happy'? But, he's sharp as a tack pumping a dozen plus vicodin a day?? That's beyond implausible.

At the very least, he should have thought that his immediate euphoria over the non-pain was a distraction and he needs to re-train his focus and discipline in a pain-free world. But, NOOOOOO, he has to go back to his miserable, vicodin pumping self.

Worst reset button plot point EVER.

Maybe your right. Did you notice in the opening scene on last nights show House actually "jumped the shark" with his little Hot Wheels car?

Re: House season 5

I thought House jumping the shark with the matchbox car was cute.

Re: House season 5

Okay, the idea of watching the episode through the patient's eyes was neat.... but the going in and out of focus effect was way too annoying to make it worth it.

Re: House season 5

I didn't mind the in and out of focus effect. I thought the episode worked quite well seeing things from the patient's point of view for most of the episode.

Re: House season 5

I don't post much, but had to tonight.

Wow, just wow.

Re: House season 5

Agreed, I can't believe they did that, but at the same time Kal Penn has already been on the show longer than I expected he'd be.

Re: House season 5

What a horribly unexpected episode. I really don't know what else to say about it.

Re: House season 5

Rarely would a show like House shock me. Color me dumbfounded. I did not see that coming at all. Just wow.

Re: House season 5

They did a great job of keeping this quiet. I had not heard a thing about him leaving.

Re: House season 5

My wife actually nailed it last week during the promos using her superior intellect (that and by process of elimination of who appeared in the scene) which I guess is one reason some here don't watch them, but even still that was out of the blue. I wonder if the actor wanted out for some reason?

Re: House season 5

I've never seen an entire episode of House and I caught maybe the last 15 seconds of the episode (I was tuning in for 24) and just based on that, it looked like the saddest thing ever.

Completely out of the blue - just like it was to the characters. I can't find any rumors about why it was done or why he left or anything. Quite a shock.

Re: House season 5

Kudos to the whole production team because I was genuinely surprised as well, which is very hard to do in this day and age of internet scoop.

Re: House season 5

It looks like I'm the fly in the ointment this week because although it was definitely completely surprising to me, I wasn't emotionally affected by it much. Nothing like, say for instance, Philadelphia. But it's tough to do a resonating death well, so it doesn't bother me that it wasn't top tier. The trailer from last week made this out to be a really significant House episode, but it didn't play that way for me. I wonder if the actors had the chops to do it justice. I was just as touched by resolving the woman's case, but resolving it when it's too late.

Re: House season 5

Wow. Didn't see that coming. Here is a link on how it came about and why he wanted to leave the show to-

Best of luck to him in the future.

Re: House season 5

I just gained a whole lot more respect for Kal Penn. Maybe I need to watch those Harold & Kumar movies after all.

Re: House season 5

Catch him in "The Namesake" really a pretty surprising under-promoted film. Penn has done some good work; when I read through why he left, that was almost as surprising as anything, but kudos to him for deciding that's what he needed to do.. a better decision then many make.

Re: House season 5

Good luck, Kal! The entertainment world just lost one of its most recognizable and talented ethnic actors, but it's Washington DC's gain.

Hopefully, he uses this opportunity to research his eventual comeback film - "Harold and Kumar Go To The White House".

The fake obituary at FOX is a hoot.

Re: House season 5

I think Kal Penn deserves all the credit in the world. It's a gutsy move to leave a lucrative job that he loves to go in to public service at the personal request of the President of the U.S.A.! He'll be taking a major cut in pay in order to do community outreach to the Asian-American communities nationwide, and I wish Kal only the best at his new endeavor!

Re: House season 5

I have to admit, a few days later, I find myself in complete agreement with the Taub character, and kind of wish there were more a voice to point out: suicide is the ultimate selfish act, hope you've read Dante's Inferno lately.

But, it's good to tackle a tough subject that hits on so many people's core emotions.

Re: House season 5

Just watched it - wow...even though I knew what was going to happen it sucked. Put me down in the column that says Kal is back to acting in a year.

Re: House season 5

The one episode I forget to record and apparently it was pretty major.

Picked up in the latest episode that Cutner shot himself. Anyone have a brief rundown of what happened?

Re: House season 5

That's part of the thing that made the episode shocking. No one knows what really happened. First, Kutner was just late to work, he had been late before, they said, but always came in.

So, after half a day, House sends some people to go roust him to see if he was sick. Thirteen and Foreman walk in on him dead on the floor. The rest of the ep was "how did we not see the signs?"

Not bloody likely...he's going to work for President Obama's administration doing Asian-American community outreach!

Ah, a Cameron-centered episode. I am happy.
