Need new DVD player. Advice?

My Toshiba that I bought about 5 years ago is haing issues.It refuses to slide open some of the time.I don't have HD yet,so would you have some suggestions ?
The Toshiba I bought with advice from here also,so I know I can buy with confidence.

These are some of the best now, without going to blu ray high def players.

Two thoughts if you are planning an HD upgrade in the future: go ahead and get a BD player, or failing that, buy the cheapest DVD player you can find.

Ive used the onkyo dvsp406 several times and been very happy with the end resuld. it has a resolution button on the remote, and will upscale 720, and 1080p via the hdmi.
