The Night Before (from Help!) (Beatles). Note the wonderful vocal articulation around 1:09-1:11-ish. McCartney doesn't do it anywhere else in the song. The contrast between what he does there (detached syllables) and what he chooses to do elsewhere on similarly-texted lines (more legato-like) is very musical. Also, the cross-relations sung by McCartney (on 'treat' and 'did') are exceptional. (The text 'did' includes what amounts to a subtle acciaccatura.) The cross-relations aren't quite the blues notes we get when Lennon sings the text 'right' (i.e., 'feel ... all right' and on 'o - kay' in A Hard Day's Night), but they're close.
In my experience, I would have to say that Help! is one of the Fabs' most underrated albums. The songs are top-notch, and the Beatles are at the height of their compositional ingenuity, at least far as the beginning of their 'middle period' material is concerned. ;)
