In a very rare change from a Ramones record, I'm listening to The Beatles: Please Please Me.

Cry For A Shadow (Beatles).  I've loved this tune for years.  One of those very few Beatles songs credited to Lennon-Harrison.  And although an instrumental, it does have vocals in it. ;)

Graceful Ghost Rag (William Bolcom).

The Who - Tommy  (SACD)

Despite hearing bits and pieces on the radio over the years I had never heard the album in its entirety. Maybe I was put off by the length or over exposure.

Well I am blown away.

What a great record :)

And it sounds amazing on SACD. Plenty of space, it never sounds crowded despite the complexity in some spots.
The drums and bass sound wonderful too.

How could I have waited this long ?

Porcupine Tree-The Incident----Wow, this is the new album, very rich, dense and full of dynamics.

Picked up the new Megadeth album yesterday, Endgame. It'll take more listens to gauge how it ultimately ranks in their catalogue but my initial response is that this is probably their best album since Rust in Peace.

I'll Be Back (Beatles).

No Reply (Beatles).

Now I'm burning the entire mono. set to our home PC.  Interestingly, the album covers (images) do not show up for either Help! or Rubber Soul.  I'm guessing it's because these are different albums than those that would have only the mono or stereo (and not both) cuts included on them?  Or maybe it's just my system.  Hmmm.

Drive My Car (Beatles).

Genesis-Supper's Ready (preceded by the "Duke Suite"--years ago I recorded to MiniDisc (yes I still have and use them) the tracks from Duke that were originally intended to be a suite but were broken up before being put to album--Behind The Lines, Duchess, Guide Vocal, Turn It On Again, Duke's Travels, Duke's End).

Well, I just ended up cutting-and-pasting images of the missing mono. album covers to my Media Player album list.

A Hard Day's Night (Beatles).

Next: I Should Have Known Better (Beatles).  I love how the double-tracking of John's voice drops out on the last beat of "I" (around 1:12 - 1:13).

The song creativity and variety on this particular album has been very impressive to me for nearly four decades.  I may need to watch this film with the family soon.  I still need to pick it up on DVD, too.

Baby's In Black (Beatles).  It's such a great bluesy number.  I don't recall all that many tunes by the Fabs in 6/8, either.  It almost sounds barcarolle-ish in parts, given that the tempo is moderate and (thankfully) not too fast.

Best of Simple Minds SACD

Found myself enjoying the later, less familiar, material on disc 2 much more than expected.
Definitely a leap in sound quality too from the older songs on disc 1.

Though I did not realize until I read the album details on their website (the booklet with the discs is not very informative) that single and/or radio edits were used for many of the songs.
