Hopefuly we have some Jazz fans here. On in the van regularly is the new S.M.V. cd. Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, and Victor Wooten. Three outstanding bass players, who get together for some music we haven`t heard like this in some time.
Also as a FYI, Stanley Clarke has gotten his crew back together - Al Dimeola, Lenny White, and Chick Corea to re-start Return To Forever. Awesome - this is real music!!

Now, if you truly want to mellow out, you like jazz piano with a orchestra behind it, check Danilo Perez`s Across the Crystal Sea. Beautiful music with lush strings arranged by Claus Ogerman, Christian McBribe on bass, Cassandra Wilson on two songs. Wonderful!!

Pick these up, you will not be disappointed.

I own a couple of albums (on LP) by Stanley Clarke. These were some of my staples while in High School, along with Dave McKenna, Maynard, Miles, and Count Basie. Stanley Clarke is one of my all-time favorite bassists.

Oblivion, by Mastodon. It's funny because when I first heard Mastodon I think it was one of their very early, Remission-era songs in which they shrieked the lyrics nonstop, so despite liking the music I sadly wrote them off as another Cookie Monster band. Listening to more of their stuff, though, I'm hugely impressed by their growth and, yeah, the more varied singing style is more appealing to me. I'm looking forward to the new album.

One copy of Aja has been in slot #3 in my cd changer for several years now! Another is also in slot #3 in my trucks cd changer. And the Classic Albums documentary on the album is the best in the series IMO. Yup, I kinda like that album.

Ya, 1977. The year I graduated from high school. Disco not with-standing that was a good time for pop/rock music. But Aja was one of my favorites.
