Survivor: Gabon - Season 17 - Page 5

Re: Survivor: Gabon - Season 17

It would sure be depressing to go through everything it must take to be chosen for Survivor, only to have your fate decided by that initial choosing of teams on day one.

Every single person from the original Fang is doomed. The few that survive until the merge will then just be picked off one by one. Only possible hope may be Matty, if he gets some food into him, he may have the strength and smarts to fight for the individual immunity.

Crystal or Susie will vanish next week.

Maybe not, if Susie sides with Fang.

Re: Survivor: Gabon - Season 17

Apparently Crystal didn't even race in the gold medal race, she must have been an alternate.

Even so, she sure doesn't seem like much of an athlete in Gabon. Not in body, not in mind, not in spirit.

How someone could be a world-class athlete in 2004 andjust a few years later be such a disappointment in a competition like Survivor is a mystery to me.

I can't wait to hear her story at the reunion show.

Re: Survivor: Gabon - Season 17

Crystal ran on a qualifying heat of the 4x400 meters in the Olympics, and every member who participated in the qualifying heats and the finals gets the same medal (should that place 1st, 2nd or 3rd).

Don't know why but I find myself liking Sugar more as the game goes on. I don't know if she's really dumb or just playing one.

Yeah, Patrick. I understand the whole gold-medalist thing.

What I don't get is that Crystal seems completely useless in the physical challenges and certainly doesn't seem to have the temperament of a world class competitor.

Wagging her finger and yelling at people not to think that her tears after losing a challenge is a sign of weakness is just one example of her bizarre mindset.

I don't think she's dumb. I think she's pretty damn smart. Getting the idol right away is darn good.

I'm not sure what to make of her giving Ace the idol, but everything else she's done this game has been pretty smart.

However I would have looked for another idol right after I gave Ace the first if I were her.

But she had a pretty devious smile after Ace was voted out last time. There's more than meets the eye to her.

Re: Survivor: Gabon - Season 17

All we know about Crystal's athletic prowess is that 4 years ago, she was able to run fast for about a minute, and was able to accept and hand off a baton. The Survivor challenges last a lot longer, and requires more than baton hand-offs. Don't be so tough on the gal, she's, umm, sensitive, shows it through her eyes and stuff...

It's also been shown that malnutrition has a much more severe effect on lean body mass than it does on bodies that have a fat reserve to draw on. She's been on the malnourished tribe the entire time. She also may be sly enough to hold back, although there hasn't been anything to show that. We'll see when the tribes combine.

Re: Survivor: Gabon - Season 17

You know who Crystal reminds me of? Alicia from Outback and All-Stars. The sassy, wagging-the-finger girl who was built up to be this amazing competitor who was going to embarrass all the guys by destroying them in physical challenges. And then after a couple of weeks it became clear that not only were they not really all that valuable in challenges, but that they hurt their tribes more than they helped them. Then they bitch and moan and irritate everyone and refuse to take any blame for the loss. Five bucks says that after she gets voted out Crystal claims in interviews that she was holding back to appear as less of a threat.

Re: Survivor: Gabon - Season 17

Glad to see Ace gone.

Was shocked to see Dan go. Thought it would be Suzie
for sure. Next time.

I am diggin' Sugar. She's the most interesting individual on
the show both in looks and personality. Sometimes I could care
less if she has little athletic skill. I just like lookin' at her.

Sometimes life's that simple.

That's been playing on my mind every time she's been sent back to Exile, Paul. Instead of pigging out on all the fruit (although that might be doing her just as much good, considering her tribe) I would want to know if there were subsequent HIIs being hidden in the area. If someone could get a second or third HII, that would certainly result in unprecedented power.

Re: Survivor: Gabon - Season 17

I’m surprised no one commented on Crystal’s classless act at the end of the episode two weeks ago. I had to watch it on line since I was out of town and was surprised at just another example of how people will do the most classless acts on TV.

During the voting at TC she held up her vote for Kelly and said “forget you, go home”. That of course is not classless what made her actions classless is that while she is doing this she is also flipping off the camera in a good old fashion F U to Kelly.

Why would you do that? It just shows the world that you are a classless piece of trash.

Because such people don't usually know/realize they are "classless pieces of trash." They don't see things through the same brand of lenses.

It is, though, our actions that define us.

Oh gosh, parentstv.org has something else to bitch and moan about. They ought to watch some BBC, that would really chap their ass.

Can't believe they actually blame CBS, saying they left the shot in on purpose, not blurring it. I actually think CBS goes overboard with the blurring, things that seem pretty tame aren't shown, so I really doubt they left this in on purpose.

That's assuming the story is even true, I can't verify. Comcast has Survivor available On Demand, but they only keep episodes active for about a month.

I'll see if I can dig out my copy of Ep. 1.

Although this is not something I really want to go looking for. I wish it was something different.

Re: Survivor: Gabon - Season 17

Trust me, it is there, I saw a video somewhere around the net. There is no question as to what it is when viewed slowed down but neither my wife and I saw it when it aired in real time and I think at least one of us would have picked up on it. Considering the way CBS blurs nearly everything at just the hint of skin, I cannot believe this was intentional.

This parentstv.org has a got to get a freakin life!

Re: Survivor: Gabon - Season 17

Well, my recording of Episode 1 crapped out 18 minutes in...so I got nothing.

But, as Mylan points out, the video exists on the web--but not on YouTube strangely enough. Much ado about nothing.

Re: Survivor: Gabon - Season 17

In 17 seasons of this show, I have never, ever been more absolutely floored by the boot. Not only did I think for sure that Susie would side with Marcus out of blind loyalty, but from the first week, I was convinced that Marcus had this game in the bag. Best episode since Richard Hatch's boot in All-Stars.

[marcus]I've been bamboozled![/marcus]

I kinda hate these random shuffles when they take place, because it really wrecks havoc with the "order" of the game. But, c'est la vie.

If a merge is to happen next the 6-4 advantage that Kota enjoyed at the beginning of this episode swings to 5-4 Fang (now that Susie has jumped ship).

It'll be interesting to see if Susie really prolonged her life all that much more because she's now in the position where no one can really trust her and both sides already have tight alliances which don't include her to the end of the game. She'll have to get really creative with the bottom of the pecking order.

Re: Survivor: Gabon - Season 17

Will a merge actually happen? If they keep it as individual challenges, but with the team winning immunity, they can bring the two tribes down to the final four
post #144 of 312

Re: Survivor: Gabon - Season 17

Poor Bob, the look on his face was one of anguish once he realized Susie just screwed over their alliance of 6 (which is pretty untenable given the personalities involved).

Really? I expected it to happen.

Either way I doubt she'll make it to Top 3, but she had a choice - go along with her tribe, all of whom dislike her, and are all stronger than her, or go with the underdogs. I thought it was obvious which way she'd go.

Re: Survivor: Gabon - Season 17

yeah I thought it was pretty obvious that Suzie would vote for Marcus. She would have been stupid not to.

What I didn't understand was Sugar's crying to Matty about how she felt duped by Kenny and Crystal. For a while I really thought she knew what she was doing and was playing a good "dumb" game, but now I am not so sure.her switching back and forth like that is bound to cause a few stirs in their minds.

Matty needs to switch things up and quickly, because I can see him getting the boot fast if he isn't careful. Who knows, maybe he can convince Sugar to give him the idol.

Re: Survivor: Gabon - Season 17

Survival of the lame and stupid.

There was no outwit or outplay, they simply had the numbers because the producers got in and screwed things up with another team shuffle.

Really takes the enjoyment out of the show when the good players get booted and the nitwits are left behind.

As usual CBS cut off Marcus' final words, but he said something about forgiving but not forgetting, so looks like none of the three idiots will get his vote.

I'm surprised nobody went back to make an attempt to find the immunity idol, but maybe the beach was to far from the camps and there was no way to get away unnoticed.

Re: Survivor: Gabon - Season 17

But that's the beauty of the show. Usually they merge so quickly that the weak easily gang up and boot off the stronger, smarter players. Now they are playing it up with the "we don't know when the merge is coming". So the teams *should* be more inclined to keep stronger players, meaning we have stronger players at the end also. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work that way. I love how the show mixes things up, otherwise it's too cookie cutter and they can plan too much. Keep them all on their toes I say.

I can understand criticizing Susie, but how was this not a brilliant move on Crystal and Ken's parts?

Either way, I think it was the smart move--Marcus is the glue of the Kota six, which had the numbers on both sides. Susie should've known full well that Marcus was tighter with everyone else in that alliance, and I'm glad her eyes were opened. This season was looking so predictable and this just completely changed the direction.
